The Fifth Tier Baking Studio

We've been here fairly consistently since they opened in Wynantskill (never visited Albany location prior). I love their biscotti-not too dry that you have to dunk it and a nice variety of flavors. If they have GB biscotti, I'm not aware as the ones I select are not. I don't seem to have too many issues with them (gluten sensitive). Scones are nice as well. Again, not too dry nor too wet. Soups-have had a few, 15 bean and Veg are my favorites! Oh, and chili! Coffee-I'm not a dark coffee fan so I tend to get lattes and theirs are good. Harney and Sons teas. GF brownie with ganache is very good, don't let the GF deter you! I'm not a quiche fan but have had a few which I have liked. Nice atmosphere with booths, tables and sofa seating. Decor is comfortable with lots of plants. Good sized single rest room (helpful with kids). Parking out front limited but there's a lot in the back with outdoor seating. Always friendly service! The people running it were polite and enthusiastic. Great atmosphere there. Such a nice and eclectic space they have now. Looking forward to an expanded menu. The only reason for the 3 stars was because we didn't really like what we purchased much. We had a cupcake, chocolate chip cookie, shortbread cookies, and cinnamon bun. Dry was most of the issue. Cinnamon buns were good but we didn't like the frosting. I think everyone should check it out and decide for themselves if it's a good taste fit. I definitely hope they succeed and they are really nice.

**Updated** I've been a bunch more times and the food has been fantastic every single time so they must have worked all the initial kinks out! Yay! My only complaint is that they are inconsistent about posting their daily selection. I've gone there on Friday to get quiche and it's sold out at 12:30pm. I go Saturday and it's not one I want. I could look online first, but you never know when they will post the days menu or what time the quiche and soup will be available. I'd love to be able to plan to go to lunch there or get lunch to go but it's hard to plan when you never know when it's ready and what it will be. ‐----‐-‐------------------------------------------ Food is good, but out of the 3 times I've gone there, twice they didn't give me something I ordered (I wasn't charged for it - the counter person just failed to add it to my bag) and another time my scone tasted like a salt bomb in one big section. It must not have been mixed very well and I was unlucky enough to get the salt intended for the entire batch lol. However, the decor is fantastic, the staff is so friendly and the location is awesome. I'll give it a few more tries and hope that the errors are resolved with time.

Chocolate chip cookies were the worst I have tasted in a long while and I eat a lot of baked goods from area bakeries and I mean a lot! If the sign didn't indicate they were chocolate chip I would never have known by looking at them or tasting them. There where hardly any choc chips in the cookie and it even had a stale taste. I took three bites and tossed them both. I bought two so that was $6 in the trash. However, I really enjoyed the ginger cookies they were fantastic. The blueberry crumble was not worth $3, not even close. At three dollars apiece theses items need to be off the charts good. Best chocolate chip cookies are at Crisp Cannoli and at Cardona's Market. Best all round bakery is Bella Napoli. If you like your baked goods really sweet then Walmart believe it or not has a large selection to choose from.
