Sam City Fusion

Server was nice and friendly. The place isn’t too big and was almost full after we arrived. They ran out of menus. They have a great menu selection. We love trying new restaurants, especially places for pho. The prices for pho are higher than other pho places we have gone- $15-$16 for a bowl of pho. We ordered two different bowls of pho and a $19 dish with steamed rice, ribs, shrimp, pork and garnished with shredded cabbage & lettuce. Food tasted great.

always great food, good service, prices are average, usually ready in a short amount of time. Best Korean/Thai fusion place in town. Edit: June 2022 I think like most restaurants the quality of ingredients had dipped while prices steadily increased. we ordered Chicken Pho, fried mushroom, and Christians Choice (noodles, beef, and supposedly vegetables), the prices on the website indicated this order should have been around 28$ before tip, it ended up 38$ before tip for pickup. The broth is always great in the pho, however the noodle to meat/vegetable ratio was underwhelming.

Excellent food! Delicious, great portion sizes, and at a reasonable price. You know the food is good when you can heat up the leftovers two days later and it still tastes great. The staff and manager are also very kind. Our food was great and our young daughter loved the orange chicken and rice from the kids menu, I’ve never seen her eat so much! All around amazing, we will be back.

Good food and service. A traveling workmate brought me here and we were not disappointed. He travels a lot and has lots of choices and comes here when he can, so that says a lot for the quality when the company could pay for something more expensive. The warm bowl hit the spot on the typical Portland drizzling day. The interior of the restaurant is a bit quirky, but it's clean.

As I continue my conquest this morning against all the places that have wronged me, I couldn’t forget about Sam City. Let’s hit the important things… The customer service was fine. The atmosphere was awful. Luckily though we were seated in a cozy spot near the bucket catching the dripping water from the ceiling. I tried ordering a meal. They were out of the sauce for it. Tried something else. They were out of it. Ordered a beef plate and was greeted with overly sauced meat and some rice (mind you, the advertised picture had shown vegetables). Here’s the thing: I’m not against the whole “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant niche, but I paid 18.00 plus tip for this experience. Be responsible, put that money in your child’s college fund instead, or buy some weed and make a late evening trip to Chipotle to cure your munchies for a much better (and cheaper) experience. I’ll leave you with this: When the guy finally brings our food out, he says, “you know what’s funny, I actually found the sauce for the meal you initially wanted”.

Food Quality is far more poor than what I remember, not worth how expensive it is really. They need to spend time to fix the building and train their cooks, or find another real chef. When I go out I'm looking for food better than what I can make at home, thoroughly disappointed. Not to mention the one sided seat is absurd and shouldn't be set up in clear view of where the building is rotting and dripping water. Also paying with card is not recommended, no kidding the lady didn't even bring it back, I had to go and remove it from the front desks little card machine.

Found this place while working in Albany for a week and loved it! The pho is delicious and teriyaki is amazing. I ate here two days in a row and plan to come back next time I'm in Albany. The staff is super friendly and seemed to remember many of the customers who came in. Looking forward to eating here again!
