House Of Curries

After being their loyal customer for 10+ years, I finally got pictures and write down my review.Their cheese Naan is heavenly. I don’t lie. It is so good that I probably get high eating cheese naan. That’s why I never got a chance taking a picture in so many years. Why now? Because I went during Ramadan, and Naan was ready 2 minutes before sunset. Yay picture time finally! Go enjoy their cheese naan. This is the only place that serves cheese naan like this in the Bay Area.

I've loved this place for the last two years. It's been fairly priced, tasty and my favourite. However, the last two times I picked up food from here I had an awfully disappointing experience ( the last time was today). I feel the need to share my experience and urge the people thinking about getting food from here to look for an alternative. During my penultimate visit, the cardboard container with the pakoras was mushy and uncooked. I couldn't eat them and I took this issue as an occasional mistake. Today, I showed up at the time specified by the online order. The person behind the counter did not seem to understand me or have any idea of an order with my name on it. Eventually he told me to wait five minutes. After good 10 min. of wait, watching other orders being deliver, seen my pakoras put in the microwave and subsequently fried them (they were already cooked), watch the guy behind the counter helping with the cooking and pushing my food into the container with bare hands ( same hands used to accept cash); I received my order without any apologies nor the sauces. At home I tried to eat the burned pakoras. I felt disrespected and they managed to put me off curries (I didn't think this would be possible). I obviously made a mistake with this place. So please don't waste your time or money. Avoid it!

This place is Terrible .I do not like to leave negative reviews ,but this bad experience made me to .I was waiting for almost 30 minutes in this restaurant ,and no one came and ask me for my order .I let the so called waitress “Priya or Prius “ know ,and she said in order to order food you have to come to the counter and order .I told her you never told me anything.She replied:you took the menu and you were hiding there.I told her you saw me seating and you never mentioned anything.She insisted that she did not want to disturb me and I have to order from the counter.I just left and will Never go to this crazy service again ,after wasting my time .

I'll start this by saying I've only ordered lamb curries... I only ever order lamb and goat curries. I've been going to House of Curries since they opened on Solano. I've never been disappointed. For me what makes them a solid 5 stars instead of 4 is the consistently high quality of the cooked lamb. Their lamb is never overcooked or dry or tough, or if it has been I can't remember when. In my experience this isn't something that a lot of places do consistently well. They also also are generous with the amount of lamb, which is always a plus. (Reading other reviews this may only still apply to ordering in person or on the phone. If you didn't know most ordering apps take like 20% of the check, few restaurants have the margins to support that.) One of the things that makes them unique, may also turn people off. Their cheese naan uses lots mozzarella instead of paneer. It's fantastic. I call it pizza naan :) If you're ever torn between pizza and curry, go here. Otherwise, they're a solid 4 stars. I think most Indian food in the bay is. I say that even though they are my probably one of my favorite places to eat. To me their spice blends are good, but not stellar. They're a little afraid of heat, but that's probably because their customers are. Also their chai is marginal. Anyways, they're worth your time. I can't think of many local places that are notably better.
