Richie B's Pizza

I come and grab a slice every other week or so. The pizza is just fantastic. But more than that, the service is always exceptional. The place is owned by Chuck, who absolutely loves his business. Eat at Richie's, have great food, and support local business! Also, I must say, the largest pizzas I've seen in town! I couldn't even fit it in my fridge!

Today Nov 12, 23 Stepped inside Richie B’s… Home of the Monster slice Pizza & Subs restaurant and to my heavenly delight this slice of monster cheese, pepperoni and green chili was a slice of perfection at it’s most delicious I could have hoped for. The first hot and crunchy thin crust bite to the very last bite I was transported to taste buds satisfaction. You guy’s knocked it wayyyy outa the park and over the Sandia Mountains. Thank you , Till we eat again.

Richie B's sells classic New York style pizza with enough fresh mozzarella cheese to give someone a heart attack! The crust is nearly perfect! It isn't soft and doughy, yet not super crispy either. It's browned to the right level and has enough bite to it. The pizza sauce both smells and tastes great too! So why give the pizza 4 stars? I am someone who reads the reviews before going to a new restaurant. One of the most common complaints I have read about this place is that they drown the pizza in oregano. I originally thought: that could be a great thing, especially since the majority of "good" pizza in ABQ is BLAND! Dion's comes to mind as a good example of one. After all, a good NY style cheese pizza should be big, flavorful, and NOT for the bland of mouth! After eating that pizza however, I'd have to agree with that complaint. There is SO MUCH oregano in the pizza that it is drowning out the notes of garlic and shallot that, in my opinion, also makes an excellent pizza. Don't get me wrong. Oregano is an essential ingredient for a good pizza, but not at the expense of other important flavor components. If they cut down the oregano in half, and put in a little more garlic into the sauce, then this pizza could be legendary and truly something special. Instead, it misses that mark. 7/10 Pictures below are some leftover slices.

This place is genuinely fun and delicious. Definitely worth going! We were welcomed and told a bit about the menu because it was our first time. I got a half salad, it was fresh veggies and cheese. The pizza has the perfect ratios, the sauce was tasty, and the green chile was quality. My husband got the monster slice which is comically large. It’s definitely something you could share. It’s about the size of a medium to large regular pizza. HIGHLY recommend getting a monster slice at least once. The staff was so kind and helpful, thank you!

I recently moved to this area, so I tried this place for the first time. I had a slice of pepperoni with Hatch green chile and shared a side of onion rings with my friend. All the food was great! The staff was very friendly. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. The restaurant was about to close so there were not many people eating, but the staff did not rush us out or anything. I highly recommend this pizza place.

We came here on a recommendation from a fellow foodie. We initially thought just the novelty of the monster slice would be worth coming for, it was and so much more! Staff was friendly, food came quick, and pizza was delicious! The fries are a thinner cut with this special seasoning, super crispy, really nice! We live on the east coast but will certainly make this a place to visit every time we come!

We each ordered a monster pizza slice with additional toppings and it was such a fun experience. (Picture with a dollar bill for size reference posted) +The owner was so kind and came out to teach us how to throw a pizza and shared his restaurant journey. We felt very welcome and I look forward to coming here again. Environment was clean and service was good. Highly recommend coming here with friends :)
