Altona Curry House

This place does a good brekki burg. All the right ingredients put together to make one tasty dish. I didn’t really rate the coffee though as I think few it lacks a bit of flavour and it often served too hot. Cute little indi vibe going on inside. Outdoor seating available if you’ve got furry friends with you. Friendly staff, although it’s a bit strange to have to ask them for the key to the bathroom and a bit icky to have to carry said key to and from the bathroom passing through many people’s hands in the process. Surely there’s a better system.

Come in for a landing at Hangar1one2. A really nice little cafe, with a good menu selection, tasty meals and always something tempting on their specials menu. They usually have a few goodies available on the counter, including some nice big muffins. The smoothies available are also nicely flavoured. I have been here a few times already, and will chart another course their way when I next have the opportunity.

I am now no longer surprised when I find a great place to eat in the least likely suburb. Pier Street Altona has certainly come a long way over the years and the places to eat are expanding and improving. Brunch at Hangar1obe2 had come with high recommendations of their eggs benedict so I was prepared for a good meal. Instead I got a great meal and excellent service. This reasonably small spaced cafe maximises dining with tables along the walls and a bench table in the middle for 6. You could spread a broadsheet newspaper out and still have plenty of room. There is also seating out the front. I ordered by EB with pulled pork and my friend had bacon. The portion sizes were generous and the flavours excellent. Wheelchair friendly - no step up into the cafe although there is a small step to the toilets. Highchairs available. Good parking out the front or down the side streets but there are time limits. Takeaway food and beverages available. Certainly the muffins looked like a meal themselves. And finally the staff. So friendly, quick to take out order, meal on the table in 15 minutes and even meant me a pen to do the crossword in the newspapers that are supplied. All round great place to come. I will return.

Ordered the big breakfast, the menu said bacon sausage and thick sour dough toast. The sausage was a few slices of very spicy kranski, the spinach was bitter, the lovely big pieces of toast had no butter. I sort of get what they were trying to do but they failed in my books. Overall the breakfast wasn't good. I wouldn't go back there. The tables were wobbly too.

Was looking for a good coffee on New Years day, but was disappointed. Found this place was open, we called to confirm they were open, was told of an hour wait for a table. Saw that you can book a table online, so decided to do this instead of waiting at Cafe. When we arrived, there was no one waiting, our table was available inside, we asked if we could seat outside as we have a dog and they weren't happy we didn't state that with the online booking, but there was no option to do so. Once seated outside after a short wait, we had to wait a long time before getting menus, we ordered coffees and tap water straight away. After 20 minutes the waitress came back to take food orders, at this stage we still have not seen our coffees nor water. Our food arrived before the coffee, I even managed to finish my food before my coffee arrived. But the water never came. We checked inside for a water station to server ourselves, but sadly there was none. After waiting so long for coffee, you would hope that it was worth the wait. But in this case we were disappointed again. Would not recommend.
