I Luv Sushi

I came here to celebrate, but unfortunately it was just an okay experience. It was busy that day with only two waitresses working, after 10 minutes of being seated we were offered drinks, 25 minutes our order. We had to call over the waitress to request our soup, salad and hot towel after 30 minutes and 1 hour later part of our food arrived and another 15 minutes later an appetizer we ordered made its way to us. My honest opinion about the sushi? The albacore, uni, seared tuna and oyster tasted old, the squid and octopus were too chewy, the rice for the sushi could have been more flavorful and the sushi pieces were much too big for an average bite. In appearance it was great, so if you want to impress it’s alright. I wouldn’t say it was worth the price though.

Yesterday was my mom & I’s first time eating at I Luv Sushi. I had won a $20 gift certificate off of iHeart Radio approximately 1-2 years ago & asked the waitress if it would be honored as there was no expiration date or change of business name listed. The owner did not honor it saying they stopped taking them them a while ago, but to me that meant they should have put an exportation date on the certificate as I had never been here before. So that was the first bummer, but we decided to try the restaurant anyways as we are from Wasilla. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura and my mom ordered the spider roll. We have eaten a lot of sushi/oriental food & do not consider ourselves to be picky eaters. The waitress was nice but my mom asked three times if the roll was indeed deep fried & she stated it was & my mom even went into further clarification saying it didn’t say it on the menu, the waitress insisted it was . But, there was a misunderstanding and the roll was not deep fried at all. The food was a 1/5 as it was very bland and honestly just didn’t taste seasoned at all. I didn’t like the soy sauce or the rice — which are two of the simplest things. Ultimately, the environment was nice along with the staff, it’s just the food was less than appetizing and we didn’t even finish our meals. It was definitely disappointing to say the least & I will not be returning. I typically don’t write reviews, but this place was a let down.
