I am giving them 3 stars because one donut tasted weird and had an odd texture while the other donut was too sweet. The shop itself looks better than the donuts taste. It seems like they are going for looks over taste.

What a GREAT local business. We used Dipper Donuts for a last minute work event and they were so easy to work with. They were amazing at customer services and made all the logistics of pic up/billing, etc. so easy! We even used some wonderful photo booth props of theirs and they went out of their way after a LONG day to deliver them to US at our event! We are so grateful! Plus, the donuts are delicious! The could accommodate gluten free and vegan requests!

tl;dr Overpriced and mediocre donuts, though they're at least worth checking out once if for nothing other than the novelty. I love the creativity of the donuts, but I think as donuts they fall a bit flat. I think I've tried 6 or so different donuts and maybe two I would consider good donuts. I think they're overly sweet (I love sweet foods, but these are uncomfortably sweet) and usually run on the dry side. Also, while I get that you pay a premium for an artisan product, their prices are still a big ask.

Updated from 3 to 5 stars now that staffing issues seem to have been resolved and they're not unexpectedly closed anymore unless they've run out out of doughnuts. Dipper cake and old fashioned doughnuts are incredible. They use high-quality ingredients, good chocolate, vanilla bean, just really good ingredients. Their raised doughnuts are too bready for me but my coworkers love them. Dippers switched to Black Cup coffee, a major improvement over the Uncle Leroy's that they used to serve. #DukeRussell #Spenardian print is a nice addition.

The lemon curd cronut is divine! It’s so light, flakey, huge and perfectly tart. I love seeing the fresh lemon zest in the lemon poppyseed frosting too. It’s high quality and dangerously delicious! Thanks for bringing the cronut to Anchorage and I look forward to supporting a great local business!

Killer true made from scratch doughnuts. Way above the other really good doughnut shops. They have their regular awesome lineup, but they kick it up a notch on some specialty offerings. Peach fritter, made using fresh peaches vs an apple fritter, and it works. Spicy bacon maple...a slight tinge of hot. Just go.

Absolutely love this place. They have the nicest staff who always greets with a really big smile and loves to show off the donuts. The best part is that they are constantly coming up with new and fabulous donuts. You can look right into the kitchen and see them making them all one at a time by hand. They taste spectacular with non of the normal donut greasiness - you can tell they use special and high quality ingredients. The best part is not just that they look great but the taste great. I brought a dozen to the office and i was an instant celebrity!!!!!

I don’t know what people see in this place. I have been twice now over the past 6 months because I got a gift card. I was not impressed with the first half dozen we got for $12.50, they are ridiculously expensive and tasted like stale oil. The yeast donuts were thick and dense when they should be fluffy. I finally got around to going back to get another half dozen, well now the price is $13.50 and they still taste like stale oil. I also find it silly that their boxes don’t fit their donuts so you run the risk of smashing a $2.25 donut. They also don’t have signs with donut flavors right next to the actual donuts, since they have so many flavors that changed I asked the girl working the counter what they had that day and she acted annoyed that I was asking. Won’t be going back.
