Applebee's Grill + Bar

My folks were in town and wanted Applebee's because the one in their's (San Angelo) closed some years back. I hadn't been to one in a few myself so it was nostalgic all-round. I had to get the quesadilla burger when I saw it still on the menu, and yes it still tastes like it did in 2008, delicious lol. They had $5 margarita specials going and they were huge for the price. Would I go back? Nah, but if my folks wanted to go I wouldn't mind tagging along ;)

Service was awesome, which is unheard of in the current environment. There were plenty of employees end they were all laughing, helping each other, really enjoying themselves. We had 3 or 4 different people check on us, in addition to two managers. Food was solid as always. Management here is doing it right!

An employee greeted us and offered the bar or dining area. We chose a table in the bar area. The employees were polite. But, as we sat there, waiting about 10 minutes or so, for someone to come to our table, we noticed 3 full melting cocktails on the table next to us, as if those people had walked out. There were hardly any customers in bar area. An employee finally came with menus but we had already taken the menus from the table to one side of us that had not been cleared off. He asked us what we'd like to drink but the guy seemed to not know what a Pink Cadillac or a Cosmopolitan was. We ordered our cocktails and the waiter went to get them. A few minutes later, he came back to the table to ask if I wanted a martini gin or martini liquor. Again, after another few minutes, he called out to us from about 20 feet or so asking what the drink was. I hollered back to him, Cosmopolitan. Then as we decided to leave, the other man that had been behind the bar, walked out of the bar area looking down at his cell phone. We must've sat there about 15 minutes with out waters or drinks. I think the employees really need some serious training.

I use to dine here frequently in my younger years and the service/food was superb, sadly over the years the service and food have hit rock bottom. The appetizers were luke warm(not even like 3 minutes in a microwave hot) and the alcoholic drinks were not mixed correctly(one of the bartenders left more foam in a glass than beer). Their new item which was fries with cheese and bacon was over fried and near inedible. This is more of my professional look at a business but most of the workers I saw were out of uniform. I don't know if it's just like this late at night or in general but those are some of the reasons I gave it 1 star. Also I didn't do this review after just one visit, just so I could make sure it wasn't just this one time or just me. I sincerely hope that they can improve the service and food since my family and I have been to this location for several years.
