Sidekick Bakery

So this place is connected with Teds Bulletin, but they have their own door you can walk through. The selection is varied and everything looks so good in the displays. We got there towards the end of the day so there were a lot of empty spaces in the display case. The service was very robotic and not very welcoming. Nobody greeted me until my fiancé walked in a few minutes after me. The redeeming indulgence in my opinion were the Ted tarts. That’s right you read that correctly Ted is making mother effin pop tarts. I have been brainwashed to think that pop tarts can only be bought from the grocery store. I never really thought of it as a baked good... but this place had them and they were delightful. The bread portion of the Ted tart reminded me of shortbread cookies. The filling wasn’t overly sweet but very savory and flavorful. The cake was also very good and the filling was delicious. Will probably be back but I definitely want to try the croissants. They looked so good in the display!

Sidekick is a good bakery with plenty of tasty options. The Ted Tarts are a must. If you ever enjoyed a Pop-tart you will love this tastier and fresher version of it. The salted chocolate chip cookie was amazing and soft in the middle. The banana bread had potential but the Cinnamon Toast Crunch on the top was stale. I am someone that considers himself to have a sweet tooth but the celebration cake was WAY too sugary. Overall a good place to check out.

What a disappointment. I ordered a millionaire bar and it was soggy and bland. It must’ve been sitting in the fridge for at least a week, the shortbread was totally soaked and what was supposed to be a Carmel layer was just a layer of simple syrup. I also got a butter croissant which had a nice flavor until i bit through the center. They were able to produce well developed layers but didn’t bake the croissant long enough, resulting in a doughy mess in the core of the pastry. Don’t waste your time here, they clearly don’t know what they’re doing.

I really love Sidekick! It is so fun that Ted's opened this little bakery (attached to the restaurant!) as a casual cafe option. I love meeting friends here and have felt safe during the pandemic dining outdoors. They keep their space very clean and follow all protocols. Their food is DELICIOUS and so is their coffee! So many fun options on the menu. Highly recommend!
