Old school Ramen Daikoku right by Britomart. It's been many years since I last visited, but the taste is still authentic. The broth is tasty and the ramen spot on. Big portions and they are generous on the meat, especially the pork belly. You can order side dishes too. The place is not big, so can fill up quickly. Super fast service

This was my local for ramen in Auckland, but also for chaahan (fried rice). The combination clear soup and chaahan of the Britomart Daikoku is amazing. If you order some karaage, and then eat a karaage piece with mayo, then after that a spoon of chaahan and quickly drink the clear soup, it creates an amazing flavour!
Atmosphere is very raamen-ya-like, you feel like you are in an authentic shop in Japan. My favorite raamens were tonkotsu for everyday, and the stamina raamen when I was feeling a little under the weather (it's spicy!). The master is super friendly.

I love this place. It's been pretty much the same for about 30 years though it's moved through various incarnations of management and slightly shabby decor the noodles have always been superb, simple, delicious, elegant. Ramen Daikoku is a gift that keeps giving.

Probably the best ramen place that I have been to!
We ordered tonkotsu ramen and hot energy ramen. Big portions with nicely made noodles and flavourful broth. If you are not a fan of spicy ramen then do not order the hot energy ramen, but for me I loved it as I love spicy food. We also ordered takoyaki which they give you 5pieces and chicken karaage which had big chicken pieces. Very affordable if you want to enjoy nice Japanese food.
1 downside I noticed was they seem to rush you to order and leave which wasn’t nice, but I guess they do that because it is such a small place that a lot of people go to. So it’s more of a eat, pay and gap kinda place.

Great authentic Ramen from this unassuming spot in town 😋
Quick table service, loud shouty regaling of said order to the legend of a chef who’s clearly been doing this for at least 600 years, and the food arrives at your table rapidly thereafter 👍🏽
Perfect spot to warm your winter filled bones.
Menu is simple and straightforward.
If you want no frills with your yummy food, this is the place for you!

My regular spot. One of the best broths I've tasted. Excellent noodles and great sides.
Only complaint is they raised the price and it's a little run down. But the value for money is still there.

Fantastic tasty food, delivered really quickly. The staff are lovely and it is a tucked away little location with a nice vibe. I hadn't been for 10 years or so and was thrilled it is still around and as tasty as ever! Next time I won't leave it so long!

This place really has an authentic feel, really takes me back to my holiday in Japan. Great food, very well priced and fast. We return almost on a fortnightly basis after work.
