A nice little Mexican restaurant in the busy Birkenhead shops precinct.
The food is nicely prepared and great in taste.
The menu contains ample choice for vegetarians as well, however there is a scope for more options to be included.
The ambience and the Mexican hats which anyone can wear while being here are unique which make the experience memorable.
The staff are nice and helpful in explaining the cuisine to customers.
The location is easily accessible by road and public transport.
There is no parking available on the premises, however one can easily park in the Highbury shopping centre and walk for a couple of minutes to reach here easily.
Well recommended overall.

Amazing experience from the service to the food!
We played some pool while we waited for our food, and when it came out, everything was presented beautifully and tasted even better (enchiladas and nachos, both with beef cheek instead of mince)!

This place is excellent! Ambience is chill and relaxed, with really friendly staff. Food is amazing, wine is perfect, and the Music is wonderful. Oh, desert… mouth melting. Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely place.

Finally had Mexican food after a long time and Jose’s Cantina was all I was looking for ❤️ much love to the staff for being so generous and Jose specially for serving the best Mexican food in Auckland ❤️❤️

Great local spot. Good supply of hats to don while you chow down on some tasty food. Tortilla sharing plate with 4 sauces was a great start for the 4 of us. Followed up with 6x tacos and churros for dessert.

Love this secret joint in Birkenhead. The food is great...the atmosphere authentic and the service excellent. Fantastic slice of Mexico on the North Shore.

Delicious vegetarian quesadilla, didn't miss the meat at all. Chicken enchilada was yummy with Verde sauce. And pretty decent churros to round it out. All I would have done to improve it would be to have hot sauce on the table for those that like it with a bit of spice.

Fabulous place, tortilla chips with spicy guacamole and spicy cheese. Just yum the tortilla chips are so light and come out piping hot.
Beef tacos and chicken enchiladas very good. And the churros, crispy but soft... Perfect! Keep up the good work.

Embarrassed to say that I was not aware of such a great Mexican restaurant so close to home. The owner is so pleasant to chat to about the menu and struggles of businesses in recent years. We always dine out with first table half price discounts. This visit is the first time for years we have paid full price and intend to do the same many times in future. There is no bigger recommendation I can make. Looking forward to times when a more expansive menu is posible. But currently love what is on offer. A big thumbs up.
