Ichigo Ichie

I just had my first experience at Ichigo Ichie and it exceeded all expectations. I’d been told so many amazing things about this restaurant and all I can say is WOW. We started with the cabbage salad, pork dumplings, tempura cauliflower, and ugly chicken to share. All were amazing but the stand out was the tempura cauliflower for me. For mains we shared the beef, chili chicken, and chicken yakisoba. All three were sooooo good, my fave was the beef. Heaps of veg options if you’re that way inclined, and they were fantastic about my peanut allergy. I also had the peach cocktail which was so light and fresh. Service is so good, and the team running the place care so much about the customer. Overall, best Japanese in Auckland. And will be back in a heartbeat. Arigatou gozaimasu!

Lovely cozy & romantic ambience with similar tone of music, lovelier staff, and beautiful food. Really quality sashimi and little hot dishes, each comes with full of flavour. Food here not only satisfies the palette but is aesthetically pleasing too. Nice selection of wine & sake. A perfect spot for a special meal with a special someone, or with family and friends. Fantastic spot for dinner and some hot sake on a winter evening. Ugly Chicken Karaage and Tuna Tataki for starters, very different dishes but very delicious. The Tuna Tataki serving was smaller than expected, however, packed a beautiful flavor and presentation. Kaisen Yaki with noodles and Chili Buta for mains, serving size was good, and both tasted amazing. We had a plum wine and a hot house sake that really tied the meal together. Great atmosphere in a cute, intimate environment. Staff were lovely. Medium price range, which adds up quickly, was definitely worth it.
