Riverfront Barbeque & Grille

PLEASE, go see my girl Cindy at the "Riverfront". She'll give you awesome service and great laughs if you interact. But the secret is the food! OH MY, BEST GUMBO North of New Orleans! And the Memphis BBQ ain't half stepping. I love Maine as the best state in America. Moreover, the food found there is simply the best, even transplanted food like that found at "Riverfront". Stop in, get their sausage and key lime pie that has an unexpected flare - see if you figure it out 😊! You will never be disappointed at the Riverfront BBQ & GRILLE! I've been here multiple times and it's continually going down hill, was excited for my Crab and Slab after a long day. FYI they don't serve the beans, slaw, or cornbread as advertised apparently. Very sad about this. Crab Cake AND ribs are over cooked/burnt too. $29.15 pre tip. Just go to state lunch instead.

If you are looking for good southern BBQ, look elsewhere. The waitstaff was very good. The beer was great. The BBQ however was IMHO terrible. The ribs where burned and dry. Not a crust, but charcoal. The pulled chicken and pork was extremely dry, the BBQ chicken was raw in the middle and burned on the outside. Making the claim of world renound ribs, I would think they would be sure to produce an outstanding rib. Not the case. I would not return.

I didn't get to go there in person but being a man of class I decided I wanted Mac n cheese, a simple dish. I got that and some truly amazing cornbread. Unfortunately the Mac n cheese was quite bland. It didn't really have any flavor to it and the flavor it did have made it seem smokey and just weird. I feel like Mac n cheese is a comfort food that has a recipe that shouldn't be tampered with too much and the Mac n cheese here felt that way. My mom got herself a sandwich that she says was good with some fries. I didn't get to try it myself because she finished it so quickly so that says something. However the mac n cheese was a huge letdown, especially considering it's somewhat high pricing. Other than that I've read plenty of reviews saying the ambience of the restaurant is awesome and I'm sure a large majority of their food is very good. I would just say that if you are to go here be wary of the Mac n cheese and make sure to get some cornbread.

The other reviews are right. This is not a real BBQ place. Ordered the crab and a slab. The crab cake was burnt and hard and the ribs were dry, tough and chewy and the cornbread was also black on the outside. The staff did try to make it right. The other food we ordered was good too. Will probably not go back again.
