Javelina Bar

After a seemingly endless parade of overpriced and overthought cocktails across Austin, I wandered into the oasis that is Javelina. Their chalkboard sign said "Best Kitchen on Rainey Street." I may have rolled my eyes a bit, but I was soon proven wrong. Best meal I had in Austin. The Korean chicken sandwich was amazing. Explosion of flavors. It was too much food, but I got the green chile and pork fries too. Another winner. The house margarita was spicy and delicious. The draft selection was broad. Most of all, the barkeeps were attentive, knowledgeable, and particularly cool. And clearly they have some real pros working the line. Not only is it the best kitchen on the street, I'd say it's the best place on Rainey to be, and it's definitely the first place I'd go back to in all of Austin.

Great place to grab some food!! The Javelina Stack Cheeseburger and Borracho Tacos were absolutely amazing. For drinks the frozen margaritas (get the blackberry swirl) are outstanding and have plenty of tequila. I’m sure the other drinks are great but the margaritas were so good that’s all we ordered!

Definitely one of the better bars you’ll find on Rainey that doesn’t come off as too pretentious and allows for a more chill atmosphere with decently priced drinks, friendly staff and friendly people; what more could you ask for in a bar! They have pretty good deals on their beer and the food here is also quite good! If you’re looking for a bar on Rainey this is a bit more low-key and less club-like, this is the place to go!

Experienced the nachos w/chicken tinga they were good eats for late Sunday night after a few hours of checking out brew pubs also had Austin based cider & enjoyed that glass customer service was great despite the bar being pretty full. Another member of our party ordered chopped salad was really watery maybe chef should use a good salad spinner or just may not be best dish in the kitchen. We would go back again.
