Visconti Ristorante & Bar

A quiet place for good Italian dining. The food was of good quality and we enjoyed it. The cost I think is reasonable for the quality of food. Loved the view from the place and its location. Some points that warranted reducing 1 star: - I would have liked to see some more items in the menu. - generally a serving of some bread would have been customary in a restaurant of this caliber. - service needed some work. They did seem to be understaffed, and we were waiting quite a while for certain things like check, etc. Food die come on time with minimal disruption. So that's a good thing.

I was craving mussels and fried oysters and was excited to try Visconti; even the sheets of rain and crackling lightening didn’t deter me. I checked into the restaurant and it was resplendent and opulent in elegant sophistication but lacked the energy of the bar. Sitting at the bar I felt like a little kid at the parents table with my elbows up to my ears. Someone needs to reconsider the choice of low stools at the bar. I’m 6’2” and it was uncomfortable to sit at the bar. Well I ordered the mussels and oysters and the chef comes out to apologize because the oysters are sold out. But he offers scallops in their place any way I would like them. I would like them as fried oysters but suggested he present them the way he thinks best. I was presented with mussels and oysters in something of a hollandaise sauce with some wilted greens and a little shrimp. It was very nice but the sauce was good but smothered the scallops and mussels.

Went here for dinner because we wanted something else beside the Resort food at Barton Creek. Had great service. Good atmosphere. If it was a little cooler I would have sat outside on the patio. Sea scallops my wife enjoyed. I had the mozzarella and tomatoes. There where 4/5 different tomatoes very unique. I had open face Lobster ravioli was very tasty and fresh. My wife had the bolognese which was very good. Good overall experience. The bar area is also very nice. This is within a Hotel lobby. The Hotel is also a Tuscan theme hotel. Also nice.
