Aviary Wine+kitchen

The wife and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar at Aviary. Had excellent service and advice on what wines to try based on our preferences. We like to restaurant bar hop on date night and this was our first stop and I wish we would tried more than just the seared scallops, which were beyond excellent AND we got to watch the chef prepare them! This was my favorite out of the other 3 places we tried. Very cozy atmosphere and the wine we tried was great. We aren't big wine drinkers, so we tried the lesser expensive ones, but we were very happy with our choices. Ready to go back very soon!

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. It’s perfect. The people are fantastic, unique, and knowledgeable. The chef embraces seasonal changes in produce and has a creative style unique to him and the vibe of this space. Don’t skip a chance to take a moment of pause in this crazy world and savor the great food and wonderful wine selection at this unique spot.

I have lived in Austin my whole life and just recently have discovered Aviary! It is the best hidden gem in south Austin in my honest opinion. Phenomenal food and service. Eveyrone I’ve ever interacted with has been so helpful and has great energy. I haven’t had a bad meal there since I discovered it. And I have to say I think it’s one of the best happy hour deals in all Austin! Recommending it to everyone I know.

Loved it! It was our first time and won’t be out last. Excellent food and fantastic service. They have an outdoor area though we ate inside. The inside is. I’ve and cost and the tables aren’t too close together which we love. Nice to not touch elbows with the next table…. Everything was incredible- the ribs, beets, burrata, carrots, smash burger, (we got two) - there were four of us and we split up everything which was nice that it was large enough to be able to split up. We tried almost everything on the menu. We got more but I don’t remember, but not because it wasn’t good - everything we had was superb. The wine list…. Massive. We let our server suggest and she did a fabulous job. Highly recommend. I forgot to get photos- only managed to get one of the carrots.

Oh my gosh, what a place!! The egg, the Burrata, the green beans, the Kampachi…. I mean- wow. If you’re the kind of person to just do appetizers, you cannot go wrong. The Redfish entree was amazing. My party also ordered Pasta, Frites, and others… honestly, everything was so fantastic and generously portioned, we all shared just so we could try all of the goodness! Highly recommended. Will be back the next time I am in Austin!

Love this place! I never thought I would see a restaurant that’s thoroughly Texan but inspired by the best restaurants for French cuisine. It’s got a great wine menu as well. I tried one particular Lebanese red wine, and was very impressed. Finally, the music they play is a bonus. Not too loud and fairly chill. Most the time, I hate the music they play in restaurants and even stay away from certain restaurants based on how obnoxious the music is. But here it was okay. I’ll definitely be back.
