Uroko is an excellent, small Japanese restaurant if you're craving hand rolls. They serve all orders quickly, and I appreciated the quality of their fish. The hand rolls are fantastic, featuring a decent amount of fresh fish. We ordered Sake Toro, Hama Toro, and Blue Fin Tuna Taku. I highly recommend this place.

The omakase was incredible. My wife and I have been to Japan (it’s an amazing country) and this reminded me of it constantly - the food, atmosphere and the staff. I would 100% recommend it. What an experience!

Sushi is fresh. A nice omakase experience in general. But you definitely can’t be fed full by the food here.

I tried the omakase. It was good, but personally I felt that some of the nigiri sushi had too much garnish on top of the fish, and was overpowering the taste of the fish. Specifically there were 2 or 3 pieces that had either curry or miso on top, that really had a strong taste and I could barely taste the fish, which was a shame. Otherwise, it was a great experience; service was great, the atmosphere was great.

Uroko is the best value omakase spot in Austin. It's less than $100 for a 10 piece omakase and they always have excellent premium sake available.
The temaki during regular hours are also excellent. Highly recommend the mackerel and a bottle of dassai 45.
I'll definitely be back for the sushi classes!

An incredible and casual Omakase in east Austin. There are about 6 people that enjoy this experience with you. Both of the staff are Japanese, and were very personable. It is hard to say which of the 12 pieces were my favorite because they were all delicious. As far as pricing, they are decently priced for an Omakase experience — without alcohol and excluding tax and a tip, it is around $80. I can not recommend Uroko enough. Can’t wait to visit again!

Put down your chopsticks, this is the best Omakase destination in town. This group isn’t messing around trying to slow roll you like other places in town tend to do.
Arrive promptly, be seated promptly, be served promptly, and GTFO. Each bite is delicious and introduced in the perfect order, but without the awkward time wasted in between plates.
The sake flight is well curated, but they have a good selection of drinks if you don’t feel like sake.
This is one sushi bar that delivers on everything it promises. Enjoy!

This is for TONARI at Uroko. Great omakase in a limited seating setting. 12 courses with a sake pairing. The sushi was very good and presented well. The sake pairing was very good! Even though the dinner was quick (limited to an hour) it was good and priced accordingly. Only wish would be to take one of the five daily seatings out to extend the dinners so the delicious food is better appreciated and settles in the stomach better.

We had the omakase at Tonari with Chef Masa. Tonari is in a side room next to Uroko. It's an intimate setting with a total of six customers at a bar in front of the chef. He described all the dishes, where ingredients were sourced and talked a little about the inspiration and ideas behind the courses. The staff was always attentive to all the little details (e.g. clearing shells before the next dish was presented, refilling water before I had finished the glass). Each of the dishes had different garnishes and preparations, such that each piece had its own unique tastes and textures.
The only downside is that we wished we had more! But that was quickly taken care of when we did popped back over to the main store and grab a couple extra hand rolls which were also so very tasty!
