Soul Of A Hick

One of the many things that I enjoy about Austin is the abundance of non-chain eateries and I believe that I have found my preferred fried chicken venue. I only have songs of praises for Soul of a Hick. David Burnham and Hunter Hicks have added a flawless jewel to Austin's culinary directory. Those 2-piece Tuesday venues will never see me again. The freshness of the chicken coupled with an outstanding flavorful batter had me floored, sinking my knees to the ground on my first bite. I have given Soul of a Hick only four stars because I have yet to try their sides and other items on the menu. I am confident on my next visit and I will be convinced to boost it up a star to FIVE. I will definitely return.

Giddy ups is such a cool bar. And wow.. who would think the coolest person on the face of the earth soul man. Would cook up the best food ever.. at the best bar ever... chicken/ catfish/ collared greens are incredible. Conversation AND soul man after giving me some incredible food helped me change the injectors on my truck.. what!?!?! Talk about service. I offered him $200 and he said no way! So I just gave him $20 for the delicious food he was giving me as a courtesy when my diesel broke down. What a blessing. The food is to die for. Hopefully this man will be around for years to come!

First in line to order. The menu looked great and customer service was excellent. An hour later after watching order after order being filled for customers who arrived well after us we received one of the items we had ordered. We asked about the rest of our order and was told, "we're working on it." 15 minutes later we requested our money back. Bizarre food truck experience.

I definitely recommend Soul of a Hick! I went there a few months ago and had a great experience. We then contacted them to cater a work event and they were great to work with. Food is amazing, their friendliness and customer service is top notch. Overall I definitely recommend this place to dine or reserve to cater your next event!
