Turner's High Moon Bar

Absolutely love this place! Not a lot to do in Avon in the evenings, so I'm glad we found this place. Bartenders are super friendly, very chill vibe. It's that down home kinda place where you instantly feel like you've been going there for ages. 100% recommend it for anyone looking for a place to kick back, listen to music, maybe play a little shuffleboard, and have a few drinks. They've got a great selection to choose from, and if you're not sure what to order just ask.

I just wanted to reiterate what a cool place this is. Some of the bad reviews are VERY unfair. There's a reason why you have to be a "member." A bar that operates exclusively as a bar in the OBX isn't allowed unless you are also a restaurant or you're a private club. So there's that. And since covid, they no longer serve food -- that's understandable. There. Now you know that going in... But the people are cool; it's a mix of locals and visitors. The bartenders are funny. The beer selection is great and so are the craft cocktails. AND..and they have live music. No I don't live in Avon but I'm there at least twice a year on vacation, so it's a second home to me. And no, I don't know the owner personally but reading his responses to the "karens" on here has been entertaining to say the least. Go. Drink. Have fun. Then Uber home because 1) you don't want to put your life or the lives of others in danger, and 2) OBX cops do. not. play. Peace out! :D

While visiting from out of town for a week and stayed in Hatteras, we were looking for somewhere local to go and have some tasty beverages and listen to music. Looked online and were unsure about Turner's due to some not so great past reviews. We ended up at a different bar where we met some fun locals. After the bar we were at called last call, we were invited to join them at Turner's. Despite the reviews, we figured we would check it out and see for ourselves. When we got there, there was a $5 charge but were told it was for a 1 year membership so if we came back within the year there would be no additional cover charge and we were good with that. We walked in to find a really fun setting. There was great live music on the stage, the lighting was great for the mood, there were big comfy couches to chill on all along the walls, a nice outdoor patio, games, dancing and friendly people. It was obviously a local hangout as most people seemed to know each other. The service was rather slow but the bartender seemed friendly. I recently quit drinking so I was surprised to find an offering of NA wine and the bartender told me they were planning to soon expand their NA beer selection. The bathrooms were clean but down a long winding hallway and the stalls had swing doors with no locks so we were more comfortable going to the bathroom together (as the crown was about 80% men). We had a great time and enjoyed our visit to Turner's! If back in Hatteras/Avon area, we will definitely go back for some live music, dancing and fun!

Every time I am in Avon I make it a goal to go here! As soon as you walk in you’ll be greeted by the incredibly friendly staff, who are impressively attentive to every customer and take pride in making sure you enjoy your time both in the bar and the Outer Banks in general. Once the live music starts the energy in the build skyrockets and you can go dance the night away or sit at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere. They’ve cultivated a marvelous social environment, unmatched to any bar I’ve ever been to, which makes it easy to meet people from all walks of life and possibly make some new life long friends. I will always recommend Turners to anyone going to the Outer Banks! Be sure to dedicate at least one night to this amazing establishment you will not regret it!!!
