Heck's Cafe

Usually stop in once every couple of months. If you haven’t been lately, may be worth a try. The atmosphere is elevated a bit, food options are pretty good lately. Service was good. A little on the pricey side - I think was $14 for each lunch here. But feels higher end and a better experience than the other options in the area, like Melt and Red Robin. The burgers are great, soft and savory. Good spot, will be back soon.

My group of four had a great time at Heck's Cafe in Avon. I am so glad there is another location in Lorain County! The menu selection suits a wide variety of palates and preferences. The Baked Brie was super tasty and so too was the Spinach and Beet salad. My friend raved about the Fish 🌮 that she selected. Fantastic service as well!

I’ve been to this reimagined Heck’s Cafe several times after moving back to the Cleveland area 5 years ago. Heck’s was once the jewel of John Searles career and Rocky River. It was fun to work there for a summer with its eclectic staffing and boutique upscale design. Today the menu looks to be constant and without change - no more risk taking. The food is good quality, but not as crisply produced decades ago. The interior is very middle of the road and the furniture shows wear and tear. And, the new patio appears to have no thoughts with wear and tear at post hurricane levels. The biggest detail missing, that keeps me from ever feeling special eating here is just that - details. There is no longer anyone paying attention to details. Track light is randomly aimed at absolutely nothing, giving the bar and main room more of a Friday night football stadium feel than dimmed for dinner overhead. The patio table kerosene lights might help create a warmth and intimacy ambiance - but you need to light them. And, the tiniest detail gone, are the single fresh flower in a bud vase on each table. I know they don’t cost much at Heinen’s. A tulip, a rose, something unique. Heck’s is no longer unique. One word of advice, find the rheostat and dim those lights. The artwork is Kmart at its best, but to each their own.

Went for Sunday brunch a couple weeks back. Made reservations ahead, which I recommend as they were very busy. The hosts and servers were great! The bacon wrapped date appetizer was SO good! Very unique! The blueberry & brie burger was delicious, but be careful when it comes out because it was very hot and can burn your tongue if you jump in without some warning. Also very unique! The baklava french toast.... well... again DELICIOUS!!! We WILL be returning!

My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience on Saturday June 4. Marissa was our server and she delivered a human charm while waiting on us that was certainly top class. The food delivered a great taste experience especially the lamb lollipops. The burgers were prepared as requested and I highly recommend the dining experience. Marissa was personable spending quality time recommending cafe favorites. She was delightful and made us feel like family and that type of service is unparalleled. Dine here and ask for Marissa.

My memories of Heck's in Cleveland were much better - they consistently had big, delicious, juicy burgers, packed with flavor. I've been to the Avon location several times, and have been mostly disappointed. The burgers never have any seasoning, and the portion is smaller. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because it's a nice, clean restaurant.
