Murphy's Bakery

We went to the one first in Point Austin, it was closed for the season but does not list this. So we drove to Bad Axe and arrived about 11 am. This was to late for most items, they were sold out. The counter person was taking a cake order when we arrived. She did not acknowledge us and after waiting 15 minutes to be waited on we left. She was still writing up the cake order. Never again will we try this bakery.

OMG!!!! Another truly real scratch Bakery! When we moved to Michigan, I thought moving to a winter centric location would be a boon for access to good bakeries. BOY WAS I WRONG! The thumb, at least, is a BAKERY-DESERT! That makes Murphys a true local-ish treasure. It's still 30 miles away but so is everything up here. The haul didn't last long once home but when was the last time you found TOTALLY SCRATCH CREAM HORNS, CANNOLIS, CREAM PUFFS, ECLAIRS (without crossing into Canada) and I'm not talking mass-produced shells that they fill but scratch all the way! I haven't got a chance to try the donuts. I got there around 10am and those were sold-out. She mentioned the had 150 customers by like 6am. They open the doors at 4am. I think I may have found us a Michigan alternative to our Lexington Kentucky Spalding's Bakery, what I previously considered one of the best I've been to. Now Murphy's Bakery is giving them a run for the money. If you haven't tried Murphy's in Badaxe MI, it's worth the drive but go EARLY! I'll get photos on next trip. I was too excited to remember to take some snaps.
