The Indian Oven

Once again in search of something besides the mundane and monotonous. We came across this Indian restaurant on our way to White Forest nursery. Seem to be rather popular because a lot of people were waiting to get into the seating area. Turns out it's because they were short-staffed and people were ordering their meals before they were seated at the front counter. All over the restaurant they have signs that say they do not do take out, but they had a counter lined up with a dozen take out orders. After inquiring about the confusing messages they were sending, they said that they don't allow you to order takeout and then go inside and sit down inside of the facility to eat it. They do allow take out and they do allow you to take your food home if you could not finish it after sitting down and dining. I understand that the service wasn't very good because they are short staffed. But with how many people they allowed in the sit-down area I still would have expected more from our waitress and waiter. The food itself was a rather average in the food. I wouldn't say that it's the best I had but it's definitely not the worst.

This is my absolute very favorite restaurant in all of Bakersfield and the Kern River Valley at that. Being vegetarian, we always have such a long list of choices from visually beautiful and amazingly delicious dishes, and we love that you can choose your level of spiciness… Almost creating a whole different dish every time. The prices are so affordable, allowing us to order a few times a week. We really miss being able to dine in at this time seeing as the service is top notch and we really miss seeing the smiling familiar faces there. We are truly blessed to live right up the street and this hidden Bakersfield gem. Do yourself a favor and visit this place...and then visit it over and over again, because I assure you you will never get tired of the delicious Indian spices, flavors, tastes, aromas and vibes coming out of this wonderful little place!

I’ve ordered mild butter chicken multiple times from this establishment & there’s been times it came out spicy & never bothered me but this last time I ordered mild and even confirmed mild, and it received it at a high spice level that burned my mouth & throat & when I called to tell this they wouldn’t trade it out for a mild version. I couldn’t even eat it it was so spicy so that money went down the drain for nothing. For a establishment that wouldn’t take the old order that had all the food in tact to trade for my correct order. Never ordering from here again
