Ejji Ramen

About 3 or 4 years ago I used to live in the area and ate here a few times and just loved it so naturally now that I am in town I stopped in for dinner. Sorry to say that I was sorely disappointed. The laksa broth was quite bland - not at all spicy. The Singaporean soft shell crab was OK but the noodles were also not so good. This place is just not as good as it once was.

Ok I went to this spot TWICE, looking for an item that is oddly interesting...I finally got it!! A bread crumb encrusted, mozzarella infused cheeseburger on a steamed milk bun with lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions!! WOW!! That was a lot!! So the first time I traveled to this establishment, they were out of their “Katsu Cheeseburger, so I copped their Soft Shell fried crab sandwich on a milk steamed bun, vegetable Gyoza, and sweet potato fries. After taking a couple bites of the crab sandwich (pictured-$13.50), it was good , but I realized that I don’t like soft shell crab. However if you do like fried soft shell crab, I do recommend this place. @ejjieats . The vegetable Gyoza (pictured- $6.00) was okay as well. The sweet potato fries (pictured- $1.50) were just okay I wish I had a different sauce. Okay, the Katsu (pictured- $12.50) Cheeseburger was everything that I thought it would be... deliciousness!! The bun tasted like a normal bun , it was cooked medium well , the mozzarella cheese along with the tomato , grilled onion, lettuce and Mayo , blended the entire sandwich perfectly. This spot is located at 529 E.Belvedere St., Baltimore M.D. . Inside of Belvedere St. market . There are quite a few swanky eateries in this market, give them a shot when you go . The customer service was welcoming, warm, and attentive. Parking was readily available. Overall, I’m definitely coming back to get another one of these burgers!! Last night we visited EJJI and I was that customer. I was the customer everyone in the restaurant business dreads. I asked a lot of questions about menu, ingredients, allergens, and of course possible dish modifications. The gentleman who was helping us patiently answered each question and we were able to both find something we enjoyed. The pulled pork was better than expected, the Tonkotsu broth was delicious, and the chicken thighs instead of breast meat like other places adds a lot of flavor. They also have veggie noodles for those looking for lower carb or vegan options. EJJI is worth a visit.

Very delicious. Tried the squid ink noodles which was very tasty. Service was quick and the staff was friendly, they answered questions about the menu and provided suggestions. Will come again soon. They do offer a few Malaysian dishes however doesn't taste very authentic (although very tasty). Can spice up dishes with red/green sambal and the Roti in the Roti canai is definitely worth trying.

When it comes to Ramen I am very strict with my reviews. The broth texture, taste, atmosphere in the restaurant, if the noodles are fresh or not and with that said I can say it is not the best Ramen I had but it is definitely have the exact amount of Umami in a bowl and the environment in the restaurant is really nice. Will definitely go again if in the area and need it for my Ramen craving.
