Smokin Jim's Bbq

On the way home from French Lick Casino, I saw it from Hwy37. Not time for dinner yet, so I got the ¼ rack dinner. Two sides: baked beans and baked potato. Beans were good. Typical. Good flavor, but soft. Can’t beat a baked potato. The ¼ rack was pretty big! Lots of meat! Very tender off the bone. Falling off the bone. Four sauces so I had to try them all. The signature sauce is a little sweet. The sweet sauce is a little smoky and there are two levels of hot: wild boar and mad boar. The mad boar has a little kick. Keep in mind I’m a pepper head and love spice. There’s good flavor and a little kick in the back end. The ribs were smoky tasting. I was pleasantly surprised! Lucky stop

We are not from this area at all, and were looking for something really good to get us by for most of the day. There are lots of BBQ joints in this state. But until today we had failed to find one that is worth going out of your way to visit twice. Atmosphere is very family oriented. Comfortable. Not hot, not cold. Very friendly staff. The food....was....phenomenal. pulled pork was not a bit overcooked, very tender. The burgers were also incredible! Seriously.... for the price I don't think we could have gone anywhere better. The sauces had incredible flavor that is way beyond any sauces we have tried at other establishments in and around Indianapolis. If we are in the mood for BBQ, we would be willing to drive an hour and a half just to come here. And that's saying a lot! Thank you for the wonderful experience!!!

Great local eatery with a great staff and great food! Owners Jim and Jerri Gore absolutely care about every aspect of your dining experience. The staff is kind and considerate.Everything on the menu is delicious and is always served promptly, fresh and in proportions that will leave you asking for a to go box.
