Epsom Fish And Chips

Unlike most F&C, you get very well cooked soft flaky fish, generally a full fillet rather than a sliver of white sludge. Crispy unctuous chips with soft centre, crisp flavourful batter, hamburgers are thick and full of flavour, and the little add-ons you get are cooked extremely well. In the top 2 f&c I have been to.

This place used to be okay. Phone order today, was told 15mins. Arrived within 10mins. Waited a further 20mins. In that time, a random boy walked in with a loaf of bread. I then watched staff take my two steaks out of the freezer to begin cooking them. Whilst my chips and fried goods stayed in the warmer from when I walked in. There was minimal care about my food waiting so long. At home, the steaks were so tough they were not even edible! The fried food and chips were like cardboard and nothing was salted. We only live 5 minutes away. This was not good enough. We will not be returning. Ever.

Disappointing. Told over phone order was still not ready and waited a bit longer. Went in and it was in the warmer but gravy was not even made. Waited for 5min and took food to the car. Came back in and still not ready. Should have had it ready all at same time. I told them to not worry about gravy and left. I only live 5 min from shop and got home. Chips were undercooked and cold. Burgers lukewarm. Clear that food had been ready for a while. No sense of urgency from the staff or polite customer service.

Very poor quality. The oil needs changing. The potato cakes have little potato in them. The fish was passable. I stopped buying chips a long time ago as they were cooked first and left to stand while the rest of the order was prepared. The chips were lukewarm. I will never waste my money at this place again. It is the only fish shop in Epsom. Hopefully the owner will sell soon. Very poor quality.
