Sri Raghavendra Davanagere Benne Dose Hotel

It's always delightful to visit this hotel, we went early in the morning and no much people were there, we ordered for Benne dosa and Vada and went upstairs (no service, you need to carry your food)to enjoy the food, table and chair were not that clean but food was good as usual. There is no parking space as the hotel is on the main road you need to find space by yourself. All varieties of Benne dosa and Padu are recommended. Tea is not that good so you can have it elsewhere.

While this isn't a new place for me, it took some time to write this review! Supposed to be Bangalore's first Benne Dose hotel and has a history of few decades, some of the most prominent celebrities (including me?) visit this place regularly who serves authentic Davangere style Benne Dose,Mirchi Bajji and few other dishes! The chatni served with dose is normally spicy at Davangere hotels but it's not here ! Definately a place to visit when you are in and around JP Nagar or Banashankari!! We happened to celebrate a friend's birthday there for a change 😀 It's a small place but can accommodate about 20+ people on the first floor where you can carry food, sit and relish!

Loved this small place serving dosas made from wood fire. Dosas are freshly made and are excellent! Tried the benne masala dosa and the lemon rice. Lemon rice was very average. The seating area is upstairs which is accessed via narrow steps, and they are slippery! Parking is available at the metro station. Come here for the dosas for sure!

Limited or no parking space infront of hotel. Very old hotel. There are many cinema actors celebrities in past visited this hotel. One can see their photos hang on the wall when visited. We ordered benne masale dose priced at 60 rs . Like any benne dose this too had mild spices in the potato palya accompanied by Coconut chutney. Worth for the price deal. The dose is made here using firewood fire and stone tawa that adds to the flavour.

Wood fired griddle, buttered tossed and buttered again, pics of Celebrity patrons adorn the walls. The unique davanagere coarse chutney checks all boxes. Given the amount of butter used, expect the plates to b oily, that's why I prefer taken the open dosa which comes with the podi and gatti chutney, placed on the dosa.. so lesser contact :p

Went back again coz i had a craving for Benne Dosa. It's an old iconic eatery that serves Davangare Benne Dosa. I'd highly recommend you try the Benne kaali and the Benne masale. Takeaway will have you waiting for longer and there's always a queue of delivery boys waiting. There's no parking facility and it's on the side of a busy road so you'll have to find parking elsewhere. P.S. For two wheelers there are parking areas next to the shop near to the market

Davanager Benne(Butter) Dosa is the name itself suggest that the dosa is made with butter usually prepared in Davanagere. That's why the name Davanagere benne dosa came to it. The Davanagere banne dosa joints are everywhere in bangalore. They serve Benne dosa, idle sambar,paddu,rice bath and some other breakfast dishes.Nice place.

The food was really awesome and delicious. The place is hygeine and service also very fast. The sitting space is bit occupied all the time die to crowd. Ricebath was really good and dosa having with Desi butter and aloo smash was good in taste. The texture of banne dosa, open dosa and paddu was good and taste also really awesome. You will get different types of ricebath everyday, they don't stich with one rice item, they keep on chage the variety of rice every day. You must try this place on Saturday bcz you will get a chance to ea puliyogare on this day.
