Caffe Nero - Birmingham Waterloo Street

A weary traveller, I dtopped for a latte here. I chanced my arm, having a new suit on and feeling pucker, to ask a staff member go take a selfie of me, tip to toe and shiny, for my folks back home. They may as well think I'm doing okay. Wow, seems the girl is an amateur photographer at uni. who want to go pro., and is working at Nero's for food money. You sure meet 'em out and about pit stopping at coffee houses. Geoffrey Adams. Ps. Her photos were totally professional. She'll be the next David Bailey photographing royalty, trust me. Oh, I almost forgot to say, the coffee was exemplary, A1, and piping hot to boot.

Usual Nero experience. Pleasant staff, clean, comfy seating (if 4 seats and 2 tables aren't took up by one person and their laptop!) Fresh, good tasting food. Nice hot coffee. Me and 2 mates shared a coffee and one of the best egg mayo sandwiches we've ever had. 2 other friends had chicken salad sandwich and a mozarella panini, both said they were good

This is my favourite coffee shop in Birmingham. When I lived in Birmingham, I'd come here two or three times a week. Those days are over now, but I make a concerted effort to visit whenever I'm in the city. It has a lovely, retro atmosphere, the staff are fairly intelligent and it's always possible to find a loose newspaper lying around. The seating is nice and sparse and the music, as well as fitting the retro style of the place, is not too loud. It's a two minute walk from New Street, just opposite what passes for the city's cathedral and is also close to both the museum and Colmore Row, the city's financial and legal district.
