Stacks Bar & Grill

This restaurant exceeded our groups expectations. We sat on the rooftop with wonderful weather which made the experience even better. The server we had did a great job especially juggling a full crowd and running up and down the stairs. The drinks were all top notch and the food tied it all together. I highly recommend the steak sliders and truffle fries. We are looking forward to our next visit to try new menu items and drinks.

As far as atmosphere goes Stacks has everything you could want. There is restaurant seating, bar seating and rooftop seating. You have to go for the rooftop in the summer, it is such a cool vibe. The service is exceptional and the food is tasty. We love the filet and the prices are so reasonable. I give this the Jim Chicago rating of 9.

Stopped for brunch after on our way out of town with a small group… half the group are locals and I am glad this was where we went… they had room for us in the enclosed patio… We started with some apps croissants sandwiches, breakfast egg rolls, fruit plate and some started with mimosas of different flavors…. All were really good, but the fruit plate was stood out the most… but then as we went to order our food we found the breakfast shot, so we did a round all throughly enjoyed that… the wife and I decided to split an app and an entree… we order the stuffed potatoes and the chicken and waffle sandwich… one of our friends had the fillet tip skillet… of course this was all too much food but it was all phenomenal… we will definitely make our way back… the staff was really friendly and efficient..! We never went without

Took my youngest daughter and oldest son here for Valentines Day dinner. I got the Filet. Was very good. My daughter got the biggest chicken parm I have ever seen, it was delicious. We got the meatball app. Unfortunately the meatballs were cold in the middle. After the second try they were cold in the middle yet again. It was the end of the night on a very busy holiday so I wasn't mad . Cooks were probably tired and ready to go home.🙂. We were comped for all of our appetizers. I was very suprized and appreciated what they did. Definitely be back.

I have visited Stacks a few times and each time has been great! I’ve gotten the ribs there and they were VERY tender and flavorful. The drinks are always good! The only thing I would say is to ditch the paper straws. I didn’t drink my cocktail as fast so the straw wore down in the drink. The service is always great and the atmosphere is AMAZING! I look forward to coming to the rooftop just to admire it. I will definitely keep this in my weekly rotation.

Valparaiso has a lot of nice eateries so selecting the right restaurant for your next dining experience can be a challenge. That being said, Stacks is the hometown hot spot everyone needs to try. First time visitors get a feeling of exclusivity that shouldn’t be overlooked. The location itself delivers that speakeasy vibe and although the rooftop and patio are also options, there’s something to be said about the dramatic surprise of the book cluttered entry and dimly light gathering of tables and booths. The staff are plentiful but expect slower service, when it’s hopping with a line to sit down just remember it’s not an eat and run type of place. Reservations are highly recommended. Remind yourself to sip your drink and get that appetizer, slow down. The books aligning the walls are a vivid display of a time when there were no phones to set down but instead patrons enjoyed the company of a richer kind. Once it’s your turn for the large tray to come your way you won’t be disappointed. They have an ever changing menu including inventive combinations and mouth watering specials with something for everyone. Creative presentations, large portions, and well thought out flavor profiles.

Delicious! Everything was spot on, flavorful, and out in a great amount of time! The service is great, our waitress was on it and never forgot about it. The staff works really well as a team with other team members consistently coming to clear the table. The food is AMAZING. You gotta get the lobster Mac and cheese. The mini burgers were great too! The Brussels sprouts could have used more salt but were a great side! We were able to sit in one of the gloves up top. Highly recommend! It was a cold night but it was decently warm. Plenty of room on the table. Seats are a little wonky but doable. Still bring your coats and beanies for a more enjoyable experience.
