Chess Club Cafe

Chess cafe , Sunday visit Quaint little place Parking : very limited so we knew were getting either going to a place that was really good or just very limited parking. Upon entering, arrival time 11:20 am the hostess greeted us with, “how many “ along with “the wait is 20-25 & we are flirting with lunch” meaning that once we were to get called it would most likely be lunch menu. We waited outside, beautiful weather. 20-25 minute wait. We were seated with lunch menus at 11:42 ordered by 11:45 am Served @12:00 We scarfed the food down it was so delicious The food was so good Our order: Chicken fried steak Chicken fried chicken Dessert Lemon square & coffee

I walked in to the scrumptious aromas of a southern grandmother’s kitchen on a Sunday morning. Smells of baking, bacon and gravy with sounds of skillets sizzling. The atmosphere is an old house with two rooms of dining tables. They also have additional seating on the porch and with picnic tables in the front yard. They have many good looking food choices, but my eyes immediately zeroed in on the Chicken Fried Steak. Which I can say was fantastic, very tender with a light crust. Definitely the best I have had in Blanco County. The mashed potatoes and green beans were also very good. Great atmosphere and great food, give Chess Club a try… its an A+, 5star type place you may see on a tv show someday. 🤠

We stopped by this cute Cafe on a recommendation and we are glad we did. The meat lover's quiche is meaty cheesy goodness! My husband ordered the pork special and it was a pork chop on top of mashed potatoes smothered in a delicious mushroom gravy. I hear their breakfast is really delicious too. Since we went after 11:30, we had to order from the lunch menu. That just means we have to stop on again.

Best Rueben Sandwiches, and I have ate a lot of Rueben Sandwiches. We had Mac as our server, he was knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and a wonderful sense of humor. We live about an hour and half from here but when in the area, we will make an effort to go there. They never disappoint. They have indoor seating but we prefer being outside.
