The Gyro Shack

Service has really gone downhill at the downtown location. It used to be so good. The majority of the time I go there now, the staff seems confused and not trained well. This last trip there was literally no one in the restaurant, my order was made incorrectly because he "pushed the wrong button". Apparently he couldn't remember the words I just spoke to him... it took 12 full minutes with no one there. I asked for extra rice and meat, received hard, dry, inedible rice from the bottom of the steamer and no extra meat. It's too bad. I usually love the food. But the staff needs better training downtown.

The Gyro Shack is a small Greek fast-food joint that provides an authentic taste of Greece, with a flair of the states. The food is good, and the normal portions are a reasonable size, and are quite filling. Any of their menu items can be made as a salad, which, for $1.50 extra, expands the portion size quite a deal. The location on Main Street offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant has a slightly unpleasant smell, but it isn't particularly bothersome.

Wow! I found this place by accident and so glad I did. The location is good, the place is small and well designed with plenty of seating. They even have a small outside eating area a real plus! The menu is simple and easy to read. The kitchen is clean, well organized and you can watch the cooking and preparing process. Employees are friendly and helpful. I thought it was well worth the money, it's fast and fresh food. I would highly recommend giving it a try.

I, along with a good friend of mine, visited the Gyro Shack here in Boise Downtown earlier today 8/3/2018. We each had & enjoyed Philly Gyros and Greek salads on-side, all of it was excellent! Ali is a great cashier and greeter alike...the staff is nice and knowledgeable with great dining fare suggestions to-boot! Perfectly-seasoned beef, fresh veggies sauteed to perfection, amazing tzatziki sauce & other authentic Greek flavors in-Gyro, along with "fresh-to-death" Greek salad veggies/ingredients. Will be visiting this eatery again, and quite soon, with much pleasure, just like with the State Street locale!!! Keep up all the wonderful, tasty work!
