Iou Sushi

Should get no stars. We were the only customers for awhile and service was still extremely slow. I wish we had left. The restaurant is dirty. There's duct tape on the door. This is a 'hole in the wall' restaurant, but the food was not good. Sushi was made of mostly rice and was tasteless. We left extremely unsatisfied and disappointed. We got the all you can eat option, but couldn't eat anymore of it. It was just absolutely NO GOOD. The quality of sushi is similar to middle-of-nowhere gas station food . Its even worst than Chinese food buffet sushi. Anytime we needed the waitress, which was to place order and for the check, she had to be waved at. Btw she gave us a piece of paper with names of sushi listed but no descriptions. We had to ask for a menu.. Never once came to check on us on her own. Then she hoovered over with her credit card machine to watch her be tipped. We will not be returning.

1st time at this location. Food was OK for sushi. Rice to protein ratio not what I expected about 75/25 rice to protein.. Some food safety concern and cross contamination issues not easy to over look when food is stocked and prepared in front of you. Most of the proteins seemed to have appropriate appearance. This location would have earned a solid 3 star except the staff are amazing with customer interface earning a fourth star on their own. Some food safety training is strongly recommended. The owner need to do a deep clean on the place and a image refresh would not hurt. This is the kinda place that could be 5 star with a little investment in staff sanitation training and portion balance. To the staff thank you.

My husband and I LOVE this place. After spending 12 years in Japan, it is our opinion this is the best Sushi in the Treasure Valley. The All You Can Eat buffet is worth the money and the Sushi Chefs are very skilled in making delicious, mouth watering dishes. The rice is freshly made and that makes all the difference in the taste. I took these pictures to tease my kids with (who all lived with us in Japan). The food tastes as good as it looks.

I haven’t been here in a few years but I remembered it being really good so I was excited to try it again. The two specialty rolls I got were not good. The yellowtail tuna in my Godzilla roll looked and tasted like wet cat food. I have NEVER had sushi that tasted like that. The other roll was fine but it was about 90% rice and not really worth how much I paid for it.

Very friendly staff. It's self seating. Please be patient as restaurants are understaffed everywhere. There was only one server for the entire restaurant so I knew we would have a wait and it took a while to get our water and then our food but I wasn't surprised and expected that. Sushi is good for an all you can eat. Note appetizers not included in the all you can eat. My friends and I had a great time and we're were stuffed:)

So where do we pay? How long do we have to wait... food was bomb and everyone's nice. But the waitresses are worthless, super nice, but they don't do anything... no refills, and have been sitting here waiting for someone to take my money. Best to sit at the bar because they won't follow up on new orders for all you can eat. Seriously thought best sushi... needs actual servers.

The food is not good. The rice tasted old and overcooked, the fish was tasteless with a strange metallic tang to it too. The tobiko was almost completely tasteless aside from the taste of an old fridge, and the salmon roe tasted like literally just squeezing a fish oil pill into my mouth. The dragon roll is too sweet, and most of the protein looked to be of low quality. I tried about a third of the menu in an attempt to find something worth eating and mostly finished out of a need to be polite. The service was okay but not great- I don’t blame them, but I will not return nor recommend this place. 30$ for a meal that I liked absolutely none of it? Heck no!

I think there is new ownership! We have been frequenting IOU for 10 years. In our last two visits the quality of the fish and the overall quality of the food is poor. The rice is also of poor quality and overcooked. We are very disappointed and will be in search of a different restaurant to get our sushi from.
