Donut Daze

Stopped for donuts this morning and they were definitely a hit. Staff was friendly and helpful. I went back for lunch to try the chicken. I had tenders with a waffle and sausage gravy. It was definitely a tasty lunch. I personally didn't have the Nashville hot but a couple co-workers with me did. They commented that it was good but needed more honey to balance the spice. Overall a good place to get a quick bite.

I work nearby so I've stopped in a few times already. The donuts here are great. They're a little smaller than your average grocery store donut (I think they're all cake donuts right now). But they're delicious and at about ~$1.50 for a single donut, not a bad deal. The buttermilk maple bars are delicous. 5/5 I like the chicken strips, but don't love the chicken quarters. 4/5 The fries are good, they still seem to be experimenting with them. The first time the fries were more straight cut fries with a crunchy outside, I loved those. The most recent time I went, they were more jojo's (potato wedges) than fries. They were still good, but the fries were amazing. 4/5 For a brand new place downtown they're doing great. The prices are good, the food is good, and as they experiment and learn more I expect they'll iron out the kinks with the chicken and fries.

I have only had the donuts there so I cannot attest to the chicken, waffles, etc., but wow!!! Their old-fashioned donuts are hands down the best I have ever had. I used to be able to pass on donuts easily as they are never quite as good as I anticipate; Donut Daze has changed that for me. The maple glazed old-fashioned donuts are double glazed boasting just a slight crunch to the texture with a hint of buttery goodness. I have been telling everyone I know to give the donuts a try. So delicious!!!

I stopped in for lunch right at 11am when they start the chicken. I got the chicken tenders since they seemed like the best value. The breading was too thick and lacked seasoning. The chicken tenders from the deli at Albertson's are actually better. I also tried the old fashioned donut and you can taste the oil. The oil flavored stayed in my month for quite a while. It seemed like they didn't fry them at a high enough temperature. The donuts at Guru are better. I will try them again in a month or so to see if they change for the better.

Chicken is tasty and juicy, but way over-priced. There is a good variety of donuts, but when I visited they were a little stale. Granted I visited during the 9p-12a hours, that does not excuse stale donuts. Only thing going for this joint are its late hours. Thus even though the food is over-priced and a little stale, it somewhat makes up for those shortfalls by being a viable option for some late night nosh.
