El Gallo Giro

Really liked the food here, I did all street tacos and really loved that you choose what garnishes you want on. Had a great waitress, very attentive. My blackberry margarita could have used a bit more flavor, but it was a good balance. Definitely liked the prices and want to come back for their happy hour.

Honestly, there's really nothing exciting about this place. When I arrived I was the only one in this establishment and it remained that way for about the first 30 minutes into my meal. It just felt very somber and dull. To top it off one of the gentleman that was serving the dishes was visibly sick and actively coughing openly in his hands in and around all the food. I would personally rather have my food be messed up multiple times then someone coughing on their hands and then touching my plates. But that's just me. The food was okay, definitely nothing to brag about or by any means make me want to return. The staff tried but just missed the mark.

Better then Matador (the other downtown mexican resturusnt) in everything but their drinks, and half the price. The service is super personal, you feel like you are at a local family dinner. I hope they dont go through with their plans to make this place tacos only, since the rest of their food is fantastic!

Staff is amazing, friendly and quick to check on our table making sure we didn't need anything else. I had the special of 4 tacos, they were nice. Not spectacular but not bad at all. You can order wine or beers. Also some mixed drinks, I had the mango margarita, also not spectacular but it was okay. Parking is something to consider, we went around the block to the parking lot that on the weekend charges a flat fee until 6am. We were told not to park in front as we will be towed. The parkimeter was not working. We did the 1st Saturday of the month at 8pm that is latino bohemian night. Anyone who wants to take stage to sign or play can do it. It was fun, we had a great time.

I'm not the small/average guy, so I thought the five taco plate wouldn't be quite enough and ordered one more.. six street taco's sounded about right. Next time I go, I'll keep it at five :) Carnitas and Asada tacos ordered and devoured! Service was good, beer was cold and our table of six adults and two children were very happy!

We had tickets to a concert at the Egyptian Theater & we just wanted a quick meal. We decided to try this place out. Best decision ever!!!! We both are for $10 bucks & that included beer & soda. On Mondays they do $.70 cent tacos & Tuesdays all you can eat for $10. The service was great & the food delicious. Close to the Capital Building & The Egyptian Theater. It is clean, inexpensive, & delicious.
