Gordon's Coffee

I was out exploring downtown Boise for the first time on a beautiful autumn day. The kind of day that makes you want to sit outside and enjoy a nice hot coffee. So you know what? That’s exactly what I did. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and my americano was great. They have a nice sitting area outside where you can just relax and enjoy the sights. When I visit new cities I always try to support local coffee shops if I can, so I was happy to give Dawson Taylor my business. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for good coffee in the area.

This was my favorite Boise coffee shop. Staff and drinks were great. Then most staff turned over several months ago and my simple drink, a vanilla latte, is too hot. I've also been ordering them warm/drinkable temp/luke hot for some time. The owner responded, no change. Drink is still always too hot and the milk is watered down, not foamy. I have to wait to let it cool down and it's just not a good latte. Now I see papers advertising local events on their counter, including support for socialism. There are some very nice people there, but so I no longer get annoyed with my drink or offended by the political literature, I'll find a different place. If I can leave my former home state of 50 years to get away from the destruction caused by socialist tendencies, I can find a different coffee place.

What a difference a renovation can make! This place has established itself as one of the top coffee spots in Boise. I refer to it as old reliable, cause I've never been let down. They have steep competition in town, but they always deliver a high quality product. I can't say I love everything they make, but who can honestly say that about any brand. I have a love/like relationship with Dawson's, but I've never outright hated anything they've released. They've embraced the contemporary coffee culture, and it's made a big difference. It's nice to see that old dogs can indeed learn new tricks.

Large mocha with caramel sauce. I thought it tasted lacking and luke warm, but it wasn't horrible. Got to the end of my fluid and there was chunks coming out. My cup still felt like stuff was in there. Took off my lid to discover why my flavor was lacking. At the bottom was The approximate inch and a half thick of my caramel sauce with the cocoa(powder?) sitting there. Apparently the coffee/milk wasn't hot enough to melt it and they didn't bother to stir it in at all.
