Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar

Almost not a tourist trap, but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere on a Tuesday night. Tacos and drinks were satisfying, and despite initial reservations about the $1 oysters, they turned out to be of good quality. Ariana ensured we were well taken care of, but there was a small hiccup – the advertised $1 per 🦪 on the menu ended up being $2.+$ per 🦪 on the final bill. Apparently, the $1 promo is only on Mondays, so a reprint of the order slip might be in order. Overall, still recommended!

The food was very good and fresh. I had three tacos that were exceptional. My wife had a salad that she really loved, and she is quite particular about those things. This restaurant/bar is geared for the younger crowd, so if you are looking for a quiet place to have dinner look elsewhere. But it definitely has that fun young person vibe to it!

The place is poppin. My party and I came here in the pouring rain and the place was still crowded. Reservations is recommended, or you might be waiting up to an hour for a table. My only gripe is the service. They initially had us waiting for 20 minutes and no one came to our table. I had to go tell the hostess we were waiting for service and even after that, still no one. After 10 minutes I went and told her again and someone finally came to our table. The food was exceptionally delicious. We ordered Street Corn for an appetizer. It was glazed with an orange colored, creamy sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and chives. My wife ordered the Taco Barria, laced with shaved steak, minces onions, peppers, and other ingredients; served with a broth-like dipping sauce w/ chives and other herbs floating in it. I ordered a Smash Burger. It has a tasty, succulent double patty, american cheese, carmelized onions, housed in two buttery brioche buns; served w/ a side of fries and ketchup.

We visited on Monday for lunch. The $1 oysters were clean, tasty and fresh; it's a shame that they are limited to 24 per "order form" which I assume is per 2 people. We also had the tacos and the fried wings which were just above average but good enough. Would definitely recommend visiting on Monday for the $1 oysters!

Came here my last 2 trips to Southie. Absolutely love the vibes of this place and the cocktails are exceptional. It’s so much fun around happy hour, dinner, or later. The coco margarita was impossibly delicious. Also loved the frozen margarita and the spicy cucumber marg. Queso and tacos are always amazing too! Cozy and casual for a group of friends to hangout for day drinks into happy hour.
