King & I

Moved into the neighborhood about a month ago, and this this afternoon was my first time in the place, big mistake. Should have been here sooner.... Really great! The pad thai was very tasty but not as spicy as I wanted. They brought me some chili flakes that solved that. So far, I would 100% recommend it and will be back for more. Will update over time.

Food: The curried puff and crab rangoon appetizers were outstanding, 10/10! The mee nam with chicken was also delicious and satisfying for a cold and rainy night. It was a large portion and took half of it home to enjoy the next day. The Thai iced tea was also very tasty. Atmosphere: Quiet, low-key, and cozy dining room. Service: Outstanding, friendly, attentive service and all of the food came quickly.

After visiting the King and I last night with a friend, I have to say that the food atmosphere and friendly family team that served us exceeded my expectations. I got the orange curry, or for those that know the massamum curry. Delicious food and amazing service, and the prices are actually great. Not fancy Charles street prices, just really laid back and really good food for a reasonable price 🙂 The thoughtful family team seated us close to closing, and we're very gracious in letting us stay late. Service was quick, attentive and five stars for everything. I also highly recommend this type place for people that are not sure about their spice level, the servers speak perfect English and are able to describe the different dishes that are both spicy and mild. I will definitely be back, It is the best Thai food in Boston in my opinion. I only wish they were open later than 8:30 p.m. on the weekdays 🙂

I have seen this restaurant many times when I have been in Beacon Hill, but it was my first time visiting. I went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. It was not a busy time, so the service was quick and friendly. The tofu pad thai was hot, comforting, and flavorful. They are a bit slow bringing drinks to the table, but I had the Thai iced tea. It was well done, but a little too sweet for my taste. It would be great if they had an option to get it unsweetened. The waitress was attentive and kept my water glass full, which was very helpful on such a hot summer day.

When I tell you, this is the BEST crab Rangoon I’ve ever had, I mean this crab Rangoon knocks any other crab Rangoon out the water! Real crab, not too creamy, and the sauce is so perfect, I have no words to describe it other than absolute perfection. Their spicy pineapple fried rice is also one of my favorites, and the staff are very amenable to food changes and/or allergies. Great place for nurses to order during a long shift near MGH!
