Double Chin Restaurant

Stopped by here for a late lunch. Was seated immediately as it was pretty empty. The menu's were kind of old with prices marked out for new ones and some dishes just marked out. My wife and I got the kimchi fried rice and chili popcorn chicken. The kimchi fried rice was really good, could've had more kimchi for the price though. My chili popcorn chicken was also really good, however it did not come with rice so I paid an extra four dollars for a cup. It was seasoned fairly well with an extremely light coating of fry batter. However, the chicken came with no sauce. I anticipated a sauce coating on the chicken or on the side to dip instead of just chopped chili's sprinkled over. I Don't know if I'll be back seeing how Chinatown has an almost endless amount of great restaurants. The service was fine. It was a bit pricey for the taste but you get a good portion size so it kind of balances out.

I dined alone, so I'm unsure if this swayed how my service went, but after being seated it took quite a while for my order to be taken and then I was ignored for the remainder of my stay after my food was delivered, I had to get someone else's attention to get my hill and pay. The food however was absolutely delicious. I ordered the XO Sautéed Rice Rolls - housemade XO sauce w/ beansprouts & fresh rice rolls. The dish is served in a warm cast iron skillet that is roughly 7-8" in diameter, the smell is mouthwatering with the savory flavor profile of the dish, and the umami flavor is rich with a nice depth of flavor from their XO sauce. The rice rolls were extremely filling with me barely able to finish half before I had to tap out. I also ordered the Ube Crepe Cake with Taro Boba, it was very rich and extremely delicious. The taro Boba paired well with the cake and it's creme filling. The service staff took my plate but left my "cup" of Boba when I finished the cake but was still eating the boba, removing my only eating utensils, so I had to take the Boba as a shot. Was still pretty tasty. Decent food, didn't finish the rice roll fish, took to home and had it for a late night dinner. Reheated up well.

great place to dine in after a late night at a goth club. friendly staff, great food, with the ‘small on the outside but big on the inside’ type of space. i loved the boardgames and books that you can take off the shelf and bring over to your table to enjoy. the only thing i would recommend is that they should renovate the quality and overall cleanliness of the bathrooms

Visited Double Chin Modern Asian Restaurant recently and had a delightful time. We checked out the desserts and absolutely loved the ube cake - a distinct, vibrant, and palate-pleasing delight! The service was excellent, efficient, and friendly, adding to the overall dining experience. This place is evidently popular, as judged by the constant influx of patrons, which we took as a strong testament to its quality and appeal. If you're looking for an engaging, culinary adventure filled with modern Asian flavors, Double Chin is undoubtedly a go-to spot. Don't forget to leave room for dessert - the ube cake is a must-try!

I always love coming to this place. It has really fun fusion food (say that three times fast). This time, I had Hong Kong style milk tea, scallion yakisoba ramen, and poutine. The poutine has kimchi but not a lot. I wish there was more cheese too. But I did enjoy having waffle fries at a place other than Chik Fil A The ramen was very greasy and oily. It had a lot of scallions and bean sprouts. And the milk tea wasn’t very hot when I got it, but it was still tasty. It’s hard to do milk tea wrong, though I’ve also had the cube toast in the past. If you get that, bring a big appetite or a lot of people because it’s a lot of bread

Over all really good! Some of the food was delicious, and some was pretty flavorless The good; The Salt & Pepper wings, Lobster Rangoon were great! The kimchi fried rice and Korean rice cake cheesy sausage dish were good, but a little less flavorful than I would have expected on the spices level from the description, pretty tasty though! And the honey toast was phenomenal! The not so good; The "mac and cheese" wide noodle dish was totally flavorless, I think I understand the fusion they were trying to go for, but boy was it bland... The fish and chips was not all that as well, though the fries were very good, and between the two bubble tea that me and my friend got one was almost watered down tasting, and the other one was super concentrated and tasted more like coconut than taro. I loved the atmosphere though, and the service was super nice, and it was super cute to be able to just walk on over up some stairs to the bakery and get some to go dessert, and they were very kind in there too. So overall even though some of the dishes were hit or miss, I definitely come back to try more the good stuff was very good! And the not good stuff was just okay at the worst.
