Tora Japanese Restaurant

We arrived at around 18h30 on a Sunday. The restaurant was full, but we only had to wait 15min. Service was super fast. The food was delicious. The fish was fresh and extremely tasty. Their presentation was excellent. The dishes were colorful, and the ceramic and cutlery were beautiful. The prices are reasonable and location is convenient. Will be coming back again.

Came here on a cold day in December. Who would have thought a humid and warm basement restaurant could be so cozy. Got the Kuromon Don and then signature Tora Don. Both were absolutely amazing for the price point. The sashimi was cut a little thick for my liking but the quality of the fish was still high. Portions could have been bigger, but hey that's Japanese food for you.

The place was full when we arrived and had to wait about 10-15 mins before getting seated. They have a small bench inside that fits 2-3 people for waiting. Food was good and you can really tell they use fresh ingredients. Our group ordered the gyudon, unagidon, salmon don + uni, for our mains and torched scallops and tempura maki to share. The server was professional enough to inform us when they weren't able to punch an order we had and gave us the option to cancel it (vs. Other places that would have punched it in anyway). Overall, it was a good dining experience. Added notes: They have a single restroom for patrons. Parking is going to be tough.

Tora is tucked away in a basement in the heart of Chinatown. Don’t let the size of this place fool you because it is definitely a hidden gem! They don’t take reservations, but the wait wasn’t too long. They have so many donburis and kaisen dons to choose from that I almost couldn’t make up my mind. We were seated by the bar where we got to watch the chef in action. We ordered the sake aisuru don and the sake maguro hamachi don. Each cut was beautifully placed over a bowl of rice. Both were super delicious and fresh! Service was super quick and our tea and water were refilled multiple times. Would definitely come back if I am ever in Boston again.

First time here, have always noticed it since it was like in a basement location in Chinatown, and today finally got the chance to try it. Everything is super fresh and delicious. If your someone who likes sweet shrimp you should definitely order the tottori don. Had been craving sweet shrimp for awhile and this had everything from sweet shrimp to spot shrimp. The spot shrimp is da bomb so so good. Definitely a great place to stop by in Chinatown. But beware the restaurant is small so it does get packed during dinner time.

Fantastic Japanese seafood place. The kaisen don options are excellent and high quality, as expected given the somewhat higher prices. We had the Yuzu sake which was surprisingly light and refreshing with a great citrus flavor. Also highly recommend the sweet potato Japanese cheesecake, probably one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had in a while! It’s really unique and a great twist on your every day cheesecake.
