Highlands Sushi

Sneak in to this small and tasty sushi spot. We tried a teriyaki salmon bento box, a ramen with tofu and okonomiyaki. The fulfilling bento offered lovely salty salmon and fresh sashimi salmon (with a small bale of wasabi). While the ramen—the soup was slightly thin—was a wonderful slippery bowl of noodles and chunky tofu for a cool afternoon. It’s at the back, near Woolworths, and worth a visit. And the genmaicha is fragrant and relaxing.

Tonkotsu ramen - Tonkotsu was nicely charred and good, however the ramen soup was not drinkable and tasted like it was made from instant noodle seasoning, it was salty with msg but not in a nice way, definitely not the usual Japanese ramen soup taste. I am not sure why there was a review saying this is the best Japanese ramen he has tasted ever. Seafood spicy ramen - totally did not expect to pay $17 for Korean instant soup noodle (I know the taste because I bought this exact instant noodle brand before). Seafood was OK, the usual frozen prawns, Mussels, cuttlefish etc. Both of us walked away feeling surfeited, not sure why, perhaps they added lots of oil or butter to the soup. Just a note to say the owner is Korean, not Japanese. Didn't try their rice bento, maybe they are better
