The Chefs Table

Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING - so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me!). Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it - thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend.

Just happened on this place as my wife & I were strolling back from the Balloon Festival yesterday…and was absolutely blown away. We had the 5-course tasting menu and was very impressed with the cooking. The highlights were the Crisp Courgette Flower, which was fantastic, the Wood Mushroom Ragout Tartlets, Steak au Poivre (not your average steak au poivre!!) and the Mango Souflé…with the double being the crowning glory of the whole meal. The service was good, not great, but the overall ambience of the restaurant was perfect. We don’t live in Bristol, so we don’t know when we will be back, but if this restaurant was closer to home, I’d be there all the time!

We had a really lovely evening here. Food was amazing, good choice of wines/drinks and the staff were excellent. 5 course tasting we felt was very reasonably priced. Only shame was we paid a deposit to get the table, but had vouchers as a gift. However when the bill came the deposit had been automatically deducted and when we asked whether our deposit could be returned to allow us to use the vouchers, we were told this wasn't possible. [EDITED: Since publishing this review, Conrad has reached out to me personally to resolve the issue. Very professional and polite, so I have amended my rating. The response has made me confident to fully recommend this spot and we will be returning]

One of my favourite dining experiences. I had the 5 course tasting menu which is great value for the quality of the dishes and portion sizes were just right. The quality of the food was really outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed. A lovely little touch on the last course for our anniversary meal as well. Couldn’t really ask for more. I would very highly recommend and we will be back!

We were able to get a table easily online and the food was lovely. It was particularly great that they were so knowledgeable and attentive to gluten free diets. I would 100% recommend the venison starter and the lemon soup desert!! Pros Good quality Lots of gluten free options Friendly warm and attentive service (chef even visited us to say hi!!) Cons Didn't play ray Charles despite having the vinyl record (I had to say something 😅)
