I'd just arrived in Bristol with nowhere to sleep so I went to the nearest pub which was this Portwall Tavern.
The blond barmaid was really nice and helpful showing me which way to go.
It was a Monday so expected to be quiet.
Smart pub but not posh.
Oh also I was allowed to charge my phone.
Afterwards I realized the name of the pub.
Portwall must mean the delivery ships/boats used to come up this far ....
Tables and chairs outside for smoking.
Cool calm and collected area.

Bustling little pub with outside seating. Quick efficient service at the bar and food arrived in a reasonable time. My pulled pork ciabatta was very nice.

If your after a pint close to the travelodge this does the trick. Not fancy, bit run down but good for sport and a place to gather.

I really love this pub, it has become a place to relax after a long day - it’s easy to sink into their chairs facing the bar and enjoy the laugh and chatter of the bar staff. The drinks are well-
priced, and the bar staff, greet each customer with such enthusiasm and cheerfulness that I can’t help but come back over and over! 5 stars 😁

Had a nice lunchtime meal of cod and chips. My colleague had the same and very nice it was too. Very good value and the staff were very helpful and courteous.

Staff here are second to none, service is amazing and the food (especially for the price) is restaurant quality. Hats off to the Portwall team because you all smash it!!

I like this pub as an after work venue. Bar staff and owner are always very pleasant and friendly. Prices for pints are average but they don’t have soft drinks on draught meaning my double vodka and Diet Coke was over £8. Won’t be having one of those in there again!

Perfect pint stop on the walk home from shopping in town. Changed greatly since my last visit many moons ago but all for the better and looks great. Good beer and cider selection. Sat out front in the sunshine which is a lovely bonus now the street is closed off to traffic.

Good value lunches, big portions. Worth booking if you want to eat there on a Friday lunch. Good selection of drinks and the draught lager was clean.
