I would give it a 5 if it wasn’t for the staff behind the counter. They routinely ignore you waiting to place an order. After waiting several minutes today, one of them took an order from a guy who came in way after me!!! One Sunday I finally just left because nobody even acknowledged me. Their prepared foods are amazing and they have a lot to pick from. They have a nice ginger lemon iced tea that I love and their yogurt parfaits are amazing too! The ladies in the pastry area are very nice as is the woman at the counter. A great neighborhood place.

I purchased 3 cakes in the last week. All red velvet. They were so good. I recently was recommended this place but my coworker. The service gets 4 starts because the second time I purchased a cake, I asked for a cake cutter and the manager was rude. Here’s what happened. I asked for a cake cutter and the lady who helped me said that there was no more before even looking. I told her that someone went upstairs a few days ago when I requested one and grabbed one for me. She came downstairs with one and while she was upstairs,I purchased the cake. She then said I had to pay for it after I already made my purchase of the cake. I was confused by this because previous to this purchase I was given the cake cutter for free after I asked. I was not going to swipe my card again for a $2 cake cutter and the manager got involved and rudely said no that I had to pay. I explained that I bought the cake a few days ago and I wasn’t charged for the cake cutter. Mind you this is a huge cake so I’m not understanding why it’s not customary to provide a cake cutter with the purchase of the cake. Nonetheless I was not happy with how he was talking to me and refuse to give my service to anyone treating me that way. I kindly requested a refund but he ended up giving me the cake cutter and stated that for the future, I would have to pay. That’s understandable but he didn’t have to be rude. I am a medical provider and work long hours. I was coming from work and tired and didn’t appreciate that treatment. Other than that, the cake is wonderful!

The Hidden Gem🔥 I like to go to Lassen and Hennigs early in the morning. I buy a fantastic cheese danish and coffee with almond milk. After that, I go to the promenade and enjoy the start of the day. I really like fresh pastries, sandwiches, salads, soups and other ready-made meals. And the best part is the staff, who are glad to see you.

Everything was good here except the pastry itself. I’d encourage you to go elsewhere if you’re looking for high quality baked goods. I got the ugly muffin and it had a very sugary sweet exterior(cake inside was not bad but kind of stale). Cute neighborhood nice outdoor area and no tipping though which is always a plus.

Love their breakfast sandwiches but mainly posting this review for my son's first birthday cake. We got the 12 inch triple chocolate and everyone at the party said how amazing it was -- super chocolatey without being sickeningly sweet like a lot of cakes are. Ordering was a breeze and they packaged the cake securely so I didn't have to worry about it getting screwed up as I walked it home. Highly recommend for cakes!

Was looking for a place that had some pastries and coffee and spot on! Ordered some butter cookies that reminded me of my college days and an eclair which was so rich. The chocolate and whipped cream was the real kind (no fake cream or chocolate made from vegetable oil that tastes plasticy!) definitely will come back to try their other options. Iced vanilla coffee didn’t taste like coffee, stick to food

The sandwiches was DELICIOUS!! Everything looked fresh and delicious! I got a hot Roast Beef sandwich and a side of Tres Leches dessert! They have a few tables outside to enjoy your food!! This is down the street from borough hall! The staff was friendly! I highly recommend this place to get a bite to eat! Definitely really good!!
