Tokyo Yakitori

Just OK. Went there today on my lunch break. Earlier in the day, I drove by and noticed that they had a drive-thru, cool. Had a taste for some california rolls. In a nutshell, I've definitely had better. For starters, their drive-thru really has no "pre-order" window. Traditionally, you order before you get up to the drive thru pick up window. Here, you order at and pick up from the same window, theoredically, simultaneously. But not quite. So it's clear, theres no speaker or any other method to order before driving up to the window to pick up your order. That's part of the problem. I was in line for over 20 minutes before I received my order. After paying, I was told to pull forward and wait about 5 minutes longer. Of all the things that irritate me the most at drive-thru's, it's being told to pull forward to wait. And that was the case here. On a side note--no fault of Tokyo Yakitori--they are situated on a cramped lot. Cars in the drive-thru are stopped right next to customer's car who parked and picked up their orders inside. When those cars exit, they pass you by, literally within a few feet. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and california rolls. I asked for easy rice but received the full dose of rice and a large coke. This was nothing special. Not overly flavorful or memorable. And at almost $20, it was no deal either. I probably won't visit here again.

Tried this place for the first time, Great food for a low price. I've been living in Burbank forever, I'm mad I didn't try this place sooner. I have a big appetite so 1 combo wasn't enough for me, I got the #1 combo which is Chicken Teriyaki, but it would probably be enough for most people. Next time. I'll probably get 2 combos or 1 combo + some extra sides. It's so inexpensive that you could do that for a reasonable price. It's my new favorite place to eat.

***UPDATE***** Tokyo Yakitori has moved and is now TOKYOYA, focusing mainly on Sushi and no longer carry the slow cooked chicken teriyaki. They serve it from the grill and its very dry, WANT TO BE CLEAR, this is not rating on the sushi or the service, the service is still great. But in a previous review, I was raving about their reasonably priced, great portion slow cooked teriyaki chicken. Since they moved locations, they no longer have the rotisserie, and chicken is dry and tough and that is why it is now 1 star from 5. Real shame, it was amazing.
