Tu Tierra

This restaurant has glowing reviews and we decided to try the best Mexican restaurant in Calgary , however, the food came out and it looked like it was prepared by microwave . Lack of flavour , dry meat , the rice that came with one of the dish was crunchy as if it was left out in the open for awhile. The chips that was served was decent but salsa didn’t taste as if it was home made. The service was great thus the 2 star here. I really hope they will improve their food or else this is not going to attract more Calgarians.

Recently we have been trying Mexican restaurants around town, we have been expanding our horizons of different cuisines. After seeing the reviews for Tu Tierra we decided to give it a try. My group and I started by ordering the nachos, with a pitcher of Horchata. The nachos to be honest with the Horchata was honestly enough for dinner, the portions are really good and the food is really heavy, I can't believe that after my partner and I finished the nachos we were both full. The nachos came loaded with cheese, ground Beef, refried beans truly and appetizer that qualifies as a meal. The pitcher of Horchata was made to order, I really enjoyed the fact that the restaurant gives you a pitcher (12$) rather then one glass for 6$ like there competitors. As for the main course we ordered the dish in the stone bowl for two with shrimp, the name eludes me, the main course was like everything else packed with flavor but by this time I could only spare a few bites as i was incredibly full. I recommend coming here if your looking for a satisfying filling meal.

We went this restaurant after reading reviews. Being vegetarian I found many varieties in the menu. Start and drinks were great. We order 2 dishes from main course and we didnt like any of them. Specially the chimichangas, I felt like it was rip off I think it was 21 dollar or something. Vagetarian chimichangas only had rice, beans and very less cheese inside. It was not even crispy enough, it felt just like baked. Every other place we had chimichangas there are lots of vegetables inside and its crispy. Mashroo Tacos were better compared to other food. Restaurant staff was very friendly, restaurant was very clean as well.

Exceptional customer service. Friendly and accommodating. My sister had pulled pork tacos with beans and rice. She loved it. I had one of the most popular dishes, unfortunately I can’t remember the name. I’m so sorry! It was so good though. I was sad I was full because I wanted to keep eating. Also affordable, which is greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

First time visiting. Being a chef my self I eat out very occasionally. often times i find for the price i pay for many meals i could have made a more satisfying meal my self.. I have to say I am incredibly happy I made the decision to test this restaurant as i received nothing but satisfaction from both my meal and service. My order was the street sopes, amazing flavor, everything tastes very fresh very authentic, very substantial serving. It truly felt likeni was back on the resort in mexico. Beyond my order and the service i received my self, i have to add a comment asto the gentleman who greeted me. As i was waiting for my order and eating there was a young child across the restaurant from me who was clearly restless and looking for entertainment. Inbetween the gentleman rounds making sure everyone had everything they needed and wanted he went above and beyond putting in the extra effort into keeping this very chatty child happy and entertained. It was beyond refreshing to see the extra effort and kindheartedness put in by this man. A combination of both this and the ambience of the restaurant was the perfect escape from the very imperfect world we live in. Thank you very much for my meal and your service. I will be returning again very soon and very hungry.
