Excellent old style pub, has exactly the feel you want and the name says it all. Staff are very friendly and was really nice to see them making sure it was all Covid safe and people had masks on. Had a group of guys walk in with masks around their chin or not even on, pulled them up right away. Food was so hot and fresh we had to wait to eat it, was absolutely burning hot, just what you want from a meal. Everything was delicious, seasoned perfectly and overall really well done. The French fries dip was outrageous, get extra if you can. Ordered was: Arancini Halloumi fries French fries Again, the staff and attitude just gave a good vibe which lead to a great experience. Will be back forsure!!

Old, rustic, colonial style pub with indoor and outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. I went with a large group on a Sunday afternoon. Orders are taken via a link from a QR code on each table. Our table was very unfortunate in that the orders were lost in the ether some where and it was around 2 hours many of us waited for our food. I was the most disappointed with my lamb kofta meat balls looking dry and unappealing- a little greenery may have helped! The chips definitely needed the sauce they came with. Some of the other meals looked more appetising. The arancini balls were a hit with some of our group. The afternoon entertainment was pleasant. Overall, we had a pleasant time and it seems a good space to get together with some mates. I wouldn’t go just for the food. I’d say 2 ⭐️ for the food but 3 ⭐️for the atmosphere. Happy to try again sometime to see if we just picked a bad day.😊

Fabulous historic pub in Canberra with a good wine selection and awesome food! Good portion size and great prices! Highly recommend the current special: Coconut Roasted Sugar Cabbage with turmeric chickpeas with walnuts and macadamias. Sounded intriguing so I had to try it. Amazing flavours and one of the best meals I have eaten! Well done to the kitchen for trying new things - this was an absolute winner! Please, PLEASE, consider moving this to the permanent menu - I'd dine here everyday if I could eat this!! :-)

Excellent atmosphere!! The staff are friendly and very helpful. The menu is just great, I tried the buffalo wings with chips. You can choose Big Plate or Small Plate deals, both of which are generously served.. even kid's plate are available here. Vegetarian menu as well. Highly recommended place. Go here to feel the past come to life with what theyve done with the atmosphere.

Love this pub, it's got a great old times relaxed vibe, and fires in winter is a big draw. Prices are really high though, and food is average at best. Last night I had a beef burger ($23) that had a pre-made beef patty, the smallest amount of cheese you've ever seen and virtually no flavour. My friend had steak and apparently that was decent.
