Elaines Gourmet Pies

Walked into this famous yet homey neighborhood pie shop today for a few pies for takeaway. My wife said they were good, since she got to try them with friends before I did. Bought four and the family was quite happy with the selection. An aromatic cheesy steak was the highlight of the lot, although the flavourful chunky beef was a close second. The thick and creamy chicken and mushroom delighted my daughter, while my son wolfed down the shepherd's pie, topped generously with cheese. I heard the coffee was good but I was in such a rush I forgot to get one. Large and delicious, I think it was worth the cost. Will definitely be back.

Best sausage roll I've ever had. With most sausage rolls the pastry is overcooked, dry, and crispy. Not these ones, the pastry is flaky, moist, stretchy, and tasty, and the sausage in the middle is similarly moist and incredibly tasty! Doesn't need sauce! Almost enough to turn me into a sanger roll man as opposed to a pie man.

Elaines gourmet pie cafe places serves the best coffee in the ACT. Hands down. Don't even argue with me. A business I was working with nearby recommended this shop saying "nah yeah nah dude their coffees pretty good" but nah yeah, "pretty good" is enough to get me in the door once but every visit after that comes down to the fact that the coffee is incredible. Every visit to Canberra includes a detour to Phillip for a brew, even if I'm just passing through town
