The food here is exceptional and the vibes are just *chef's kiss* immaculate! All the food is so delicious. This is probably one of the few restaurants where I will actively order vegetables because they are so good. Seriously considering letting the kitchen staff inherit my estate because they deserve it.✨️

Creative menu, and really good service. Ny favorite was the broccoli, very tasty, full of umami. The prawn toast is ok, I was expecting more filling and more prawn taste on it. We also ordered belly pork bao, and it was too hard to eat (maybe they could’ve cooked a bit longer). We were positively surprised with the dessert: the peanut delight was better than we expected and the lemon and miso was an interesting mixture (very savory and sweet with hints of sourness on the crumble).

Greenpoint Gem Love going to Bao Down for a relaxed dinner with friends or family. The interior and vibe is beautiful and relaxed and the food is really up there. Lemon and miso tart is a MUST try as a dessert option and the prawn bao is like a signature, always get it when I go it’s so delicious. The fried rice is one of the best things on the menu and I love how consistent this restaurant is! Love love love this place

Wow the flavors! Every dish is unique and perfectly composed. The sauce game is also top notch. Interestingly, even the egg fried rice tastes way better than a standard one. The place is beautiful, has a very good atmosphere and the service was also flawless. Amazing dinner experience! The price to value here is incredible. If I had to pick one dish, the shrimp toast was something really different.

We had such a great meal! I didn’t realize my love for Bao buns until we came here! Food is about the normal price for Cape Town standards but 10x tastier, which says how great it is! Service was friendly, drinks pretty well priced and decor is super cute! This will be one of my local go to restaurants!

I had to make a booking online as this is another very popular dining choice in Cape Town! The establishment is rather unassuming, stuck upstairs of another popular and noisy restaurant/ bar. My husband and I chose 4 dishes to share and each was an absolute delight! The combination of ingredients were perfectly balanced and each bite was so tasty! It really was one of the nicest meals we've had in a long time! Our waiter was attentive without being a nuisance, and our dishes were served separately and in good time. It was a much enjoyed, relaxed evening. Definitely recommend Bao Down!
