Pizza Express

Very noisy on a Saturday afternoon as it was Mother’s Day weekend and Wales playing at home against France. Despite that - nice pizzas. Dough balls were good. Coke comes in glass bottles so my wife very happy. Service was great. Pizzas are expensive but we used Tesco Clubcard vouchers. That saved the day. We had the burnt ends one. It was lovely.

We know Pizza Express well, but lunch here at Cardiff Bay was the icing on the cake. As well as the usual quality, the friendly service from Anh, Jakub and team was amazing. Anh went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect, really engaging proactively with everyone. Look forward to returning soon.

We made a last minute decision to book an 11:45 lunch at Pizza Express Cardiff Bay (Mermaid Quay) for me, my husband and our 23m old. Upon arrival we were greeted promptly and seated. There were crayons and colouring menus provided for the little one. Baby changing facilities were available and there was the nice touch of a soft changing mat already on the changing table. We had looked at the menu prior to attending and pretty much knew what we wanted to order (and were on a bit of a clock as little one needed her 1pm nap!) We were pleasantly surprised at the availability of waiting staff and caterers, as our order was swiftly taken, and our food arrived promptly too, we managed a two course meal (mains & desserts/coffees), and the little one had a mini 3 course meal (which went down a treat)! All within an hour. Wonderful quick service. Ania our server was really warm, friendly and good with our little one too and considerate with where she put hot plates, as little one was grabbing everything in reach! Delicious food, efficient and considerate service. Highly recommend, and special thanks to everyone who tended to us/cooked for us today! When it came to our bill, we had a QR code for a Tesco Clubcard voucher that I had converted for Pizza Express which Ania swiftly scanned prior to bringing us our bill - everything went so smoothly! Big thanks for the team at Pizza Express Mermaid Quay for our delicious, and timely lunch visit prior to baby’s nap time today! We cannot thank you enough for a great experience! Edit: the baby cutlery in the photo was our own brought from home! Although little one’s food was mainly eaten with fingers anyhow!

We arrived at midday 25 January. The manager met us at the entrance and showed us to a window seat as we requested. Our waitress — Ánh — promptly came to take our orders and recognised us at once from previous visits. It turned out that she was the ONLY waitress on duty, and had to deal with preparing desserts as well as table service: so she was busy throughout our stay, but was still unfailingly cheerful and helpful. We had to wait while other guests were seen too, but as we were not in a hurry that was no problem.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. We checked the outside menu for vegan options and could only see 2, but it said to ask for the vegan menu, which we did, and there were so many options! We got the dough balls, garlic bread and a pizza (the Giardiniera with added Quorn chicken). It was all pretty good (not amazing, but good for a chain pizza shop). The service was really great, she was very attentive and friendly and answered all our questions. Would definitely go back to try some other things.
