Top Choice Fish

Expected better after looking forward to try for a long time now. They close at 8 but when we showed up at 630, the fish was already being out away with only one fish left out. The staff was nice but not very welcoming and the food was very subpar. The fish and chips... The breading was more abundant than the fish, with pretty small pieces of fish compared to other places in the area. The new England Clam Chowder was off, and was not finished. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was better. Not good enough to return for but better than the inedible New England one. The shrimp and crab ceviche was okay but very little shrimp and crab. The fries were pretty bad. Again, if you are open until 8pm for dinner, you need to leave options available for patrons who come in an hour and a half before you close. The manager asked how everything was and we explained that it was not as good as we expected. She said thanks for the feedback and said they had recent turnover but did not make us feel that she cared if we ever came back. Was disappointed. Felt like we wasted our money. But the staff was very friendly, I think they need to be trained better. Starts from the top. Until they figure this out, we'll stick to the many other wonderful fish options in the area.

The service and quality of Top Choice is equal (if not better) than their parent company and neighbor Tip Top Meats. The fish is super fresh with an excellent selection of local caught species. Live lobster tank is clean and well stocked. There second live tank typically has "in season" critters like dungness, king, or rock crab. I've even seen prawns swimming around in there. Don't forget to look in the freezer...plenty of European and exotic products. My family shops at Top Choice every week and we have never been dissatisfied.

I ordered the lobster burrito. It is a joke. Where is the lobster? And who wrapped it? It is impossible to pick up without coming undone and all the shrimp (yes, NO LOBSTER) fall all over the place. First and last time I ever eat there, Pelly's a mile away is a 1000% better! I'll still be a client of tip top meats, not to confuse potential costumers. The fish place, two thumbs way down, the meat place, two thumbs way up. In the end I found little bits of what tried to be lobster, but instead was CRAYFISH! These peeps don't think I know the difference? LIARS!

I cannot believe that this place has been there for 2 years and I have just found it now. The Chilean sea bass that I ordered with a garlic butter sauce vegetables and black beans was the best fish meal that I have ordered from any restaurant ever! I also picked up several servings and varieties of raw fish to bring home and cook myself. Everything looked and smelled extremely fresh. This is my new favorite spot. I will be sure to tell all of my friends and family that it doesn't get any better then Top Choice fish!

Top Choice is both a fresh seafood market and seafood eatery; if you care to, can choose your fish from the fresh cases or a lobster from the tank. Seating is limited and somewhat communal, and dress warmly if visiting in cool weather; couple tables outside, as well. Order at the counter, get a number to place on your table. Have eaten here 3 times; food was always fresh and well thought out. Popular for take out. Very friendly staff. Decent parking.
