Ebel's Tavern

I went here Saturday with a friend. My friend and I ordered the pork dumplings and pretzels and beer cheese. I wasn't a fan of the dumplings but my friend enjoyed them. The pretzels were delicious. The bread had great flavor and the cheese was creamy and yummy. I ordered the chicken sandwich with broccoli. The broccoli was roasted and it was really good. It was crisp and flavorful. The bread of the sandwich was very good. However, the chicken was very rubbery, and no flavor and the pickles tastes like they were dumped in chemicals. I had to send it back because it was inedible. My friend ordered the patty melt and she said it was really good. She also ordered hush puppies and she was not a fan. I tried a bite also and was confused because they had corn in them. They were pretty much burnt and had no flavor. The manager was nice and took it off my bill but we probably won't be back. We went across the street to get ice cream and was told many people have come in complaining about the food at Ebels.

2 years loyal customers and where treated unfairly. Basically if you get something from their menu that you as the customer dislikes. If they say it’s fine then you have no say. Their calamari is mostly bread we disliked it. Didn’t eat it sent it back. They basically said screw your opinion. We are still being charged for it. It’s not the servers fault more so who is above them. It’s not about the money either it’s simply a lack empathy and customer service. Their head chef was very unreasonable Vince. To save 10 dollars he lost 2 loyal customers

Every visit, there's usually something I order that's out of stock. Also, order customization seems to be a repeat issue. I always ask for my burgers to be "medium". But they consistently arrive well done. Also, wait time for food is VERY long. I usually wait 45mins+ for my food to arrive. But, the atmosphere is incredible and variety is excellent.

Our first time was awesome! The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! Our second time, not so great. We sat outside, were given water-the waitress never came back to get our drink order. We ordered wings, waited over 45 minutes and ended up leaving. No service and no food. Granted our waitress was brand new so we gave grace but no one ever checked on us or asked if we needed anything. Pretty disappointing but we'll try it again -one more time.

SURPRISING FIND… my wife and I visited Carthage looking for genealogical records in the courthouse and were pleased to find Ebel’s across the street. It’s located in a basement and features some moody colored lighting. I had the Reuben which was quite good and featured a choice of a side: I choose the house salad which was surprisingly large. We also tried the sweet potato fries which were delicious (opt for catsup over the sweet sauce.) Service was attentive. My only suggestion for the restaurant is to try a little brighter lighting for more of a pub atmosphere.
